Obama gets it totally wrong on oil production … again

By Steve McGough / March 21, 2012 /

Today, President Obama totally contradicted himself in the same paragraph, but it’s nothing new. He’s trying to claim we’re drilling a bunch of oil as compared to the past, but he’s refusing to tell you the full story, which is not that hard to understand.

President Obama “welcomes” son of Keystone

By SoundOffSister / February 28, 2012 /

We all know that earlier this year the President killed the proposed Keystone pipeline that would bring oil from Canada to the United States.  However, he seems to be on board with a portion of it…from Cushing, Oklahoma to Port Arthur, Texas.

The unknown oil “moratorium”

By SoundOffSister / April 10, 2011 /

Gasoline prices are now approaching $4 per gallon, and, in some states they already exceed that amount.  We know about the drilling moratorium that still seems to be in place in the Gulf of Mexico, in spite of the fact that it is almost one year after the Deep Water Horizon oil spill.  We know that…

Iran tests new weapon, can close Straight of Hormuz – US tests weapon, can reopen Straight – and make it wider

By Steve McGough / August 4, 2008 / Comments Off on Iran tests new weapon, can close Straight of Hormuz – US tests weapon, can reopen Straight – and make it wider

More posturing from the Iranian dictator-at-large. Six world powers simply asked Iran to stop enriching uranium. They won’t stop, and this is the set up to test the new president of the United States. We might have some more rhetoric babbled from the United Nations over the next few months – with strong words that…

Democrats, Obama send mixed message on energy policy

By Steve McGough / August 4, 2008 / Comments Off on Democrats, Obama send mixed message on energy policy

I have no idea where this ship is heading. Obama does not want to drill offshore, but is now willing to drill offshore. He did not want to tap into the strategic petroleum reserves, and now he does. Haven’t the Democrats been saying that we can’t drill out of this problem? Didn’t they say that…

Billionaire “Pickens Plan” falls flat – wind farm not viable

By Steve McGough / December 23, 2010 /

The Don Quixote Plan has fallen flat. In less than three years, more than $80 million was spent on marketing for T. Boone Pickens’ wind turbine power generation plan. After the efforts, Pickens – who made his original fortune in the oil industry – has given up on his grandiose wind farm plan and will focus on…

Obama administration to support offshore drilling… in Brazil

By Steve McGough / August 18, 2009 /

President Obama has elected to underwrite the cost of offshore drilling – in Brazil – with funds from the U.S. Treasury. So much for working to create energy independence.

The Democrat Agenda – Government Must Own Oil Industry

By Steve McGough / June 19, 2008 /

In the last month, at least two members of congress, Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.), called for nationalizing the oil industry. Read that sentence again. Can someone name for me any private industry that has been taken over by the government where service got better, quality improved, or costs went down? Certainly the…

USGS finds 3 billion barrels of oil in United States

By Steve McGough / February 24, 2009 /

Actually, the report – dated last spring – states there is between 3 billion and 4.3 billion barrels of oil in the Bakken Formation in North Dakota and Montana. The U.S. Geological Survey assessment states the oil is technically recoverable, with current technology. Hat tip to reader Fred. We’re not running out of oil. The…

Your wallet – the only place Democrats want to drill

By Steve McGough / July 25, 2008 /

Great bumper sticker now available through the Tennessee Republican Party. It will be the second popular catch phrase coming from the increased cost of fuel and liberals refusing to drill anywhere, at anytime. Of course, they don’t ever seem to have a problem drilling into our wallets to redistribute wealth. First we’ve got the Drill…
