Colorado Democrat: Women fearing rape might shoot first, ask questions later

By Steve McGough / February 19, 2013 /

Well here we have another absurd argument from a politician. In Colorado, state Rep. Joe Salazar (D) thinks women who carry guns for self-defense will shoot first and ask questions later. Of course, there is zero evidence this would happen since women have been allowed to carry openly and concealed for years in almost every US…

If there is one thing we can do to keep our children safe…

By Steve McGough / February 5, 2013 /

Should we pass a law? Last year, two teens drowned in Connecticut government school pools under the supervision of government employees. More than 3,000 unintentional, non-boating-related drownings occur each year, and about 700 of those are children under 14. Making life jackets mandatory will save lives.

Connecticut lawmakers to skip regular legislative process on gun control

By Steve McGough / February 2, 2013 /

Not as bad as New York, but the Connecticut General Assembly says it will use an “emergency certification” process to skip committee hearings on proposed legislation, leaving the public no voice when it comes to commentary on specific legislation.

In Chicago – 42 dead from gunfire in the first 30 days of January

By Steve McGough / January 30, 2013 /

This is devastating for a city no doubt, but one thing you won’t hear from me is the this-is-what-happens-when-you-ban-guns argument. There are too many variables involved and I won’t be pulled into the “Chicago is a gun control bellwether” argument.

Senators are NOT self-defense experts – Don’t tell us what we can or can not use

By Steve McGough / January 30, 2013 /

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) is not a self-defense expert, and I don’t want him – or any other politician or government agency – telling me what is an acceptable firearm to use for self-defense. Every person, situation, neighborhood and home is totally different.

Yes, gun control activists want to disarm everyone over time

By Steve McGough / January 28, 2013 /

Except of course for the lawmakers and law enforcers. Listen carefully to the politicians and the gun control crowd – including many law enforcement leaders whose jobs are tied to politics – as they talk about the future of gun control. To them, it’s not confiscation, rather a “removal of firearms” from the public realm over time…

Obligatory video: Surviving a massacre and the need for “assault weapons”

By Steve McGough / January 25, 2013 /

This video has been around for years, and the audio was played by Jim during the first hour of the big radio show this morning. Here it is … the testimony in-front of a Congressional committee from Dr. Susan Gratia-Hupp in 1994 just prior to the implementation of the federal assault weapons ban.

Connecticut will hold hearings: School safety, gun control & mental health (Update)

By Steve McGough / January 22, 2013 /

Will you make the effort to attend? Unlike New York, Connecticut residents will have the opportunity to make their voices heard at four hearings with members of the governor’s three working groups. A combined bi-partisan task force hearing will be the last to be held – in Newtown – on Jan. 30.

New York State gun confiscation written into law (Update)

By Steve McGough / January 15, 2013 /

Of course, these bastards keep saying “we won’t take your guns away.” They pride themselves on that statement. But instead of physically taking them from you, they just write a law that makes law-abiding citizens who owned firearms into criminals if they don’t get rid of them.
