Another page in the Casey Anthony trial…please read on

Just when you thought you were safe from from this, shall we say, continuing saga, the beat goes on. The “participants” never seem to amaze.

It seems that Cheney Mason, one of the defendant’s counsel, decided that vulgarity was “appropriate” behavior.  Tuesday evening after the jury verdict, Mr. Mason, while dining with the defense team, (how can I say this politely), “flipped the bird” to the reporters outside the restaurant.  Unfortunately for Mr. Mason, this gesture was caught on camera.  You can see the picture here, edited, of course for family viewing.

Lest you think that all attorneys are “cut out of the same cloth”, a fellow member of the Florida Bar filed a complaint against Mr. Mason with the Florida Bar for not “maintaining the integrity of the profession”.

Yes, lawyers are expected to have integrity.

Meanwhile, after everyone involved calculated “gain time’ and “good behavior time”, Casey Anthony will be let out of jail next Wednesday.

And, in a related matter, Judge Belvin Perry ruled today on a motion by the media to release the names and addresses of the jurors.  He reserved ruling on the media’s motion based upon the fact that apparently many people have “expressed displeasure” with the verdict, and, thus, the Judge is concerned about their safety if that information is released now.

Ain’t America great?

Seriously, no case should have any reporting other than the initial crime, and that includes televising the trial.? Considering the informal national pastime of trying get out of being a juror at all costs, they shouldn’t be so quick to arm chair quarterback the trial! ? As for jurors, their names should not be released unless they do so themselves.? There is no legal gain in doing so, only prurient interests and a soap opera mentality fueled by the lamestream press.?

The phase “maintain the integrity of the profession” caused such a paroxysm of laughter I could not read further.? Can we move on?

Trials and especially murder trials should not be televised! You are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty by a jury of your peers. Not by media outlets looking to make a buck. If any injuries or fatalities result from the “not guilty” verdict the judge that approved the televising and broadcasters that took the “of course she did it” stance should be held criminally and financially responsible!?

Um, decided to go cold-turkey over my CA obsession.? Sorry, my golden words of wisdom on the subject will just never be written.? The 10-step program I’m attending forbids it.

I thought 1 of our rights under the constitution is the right to a “public” trial. What can be more public than televising it? I think it puts all the participants on their toes, making sure they act responsibly…. who has not heard of corruption in the courts?
Seems like many here are again confusing “broadcasters” with “commentators”.

The sad reality of all this is that trials such as the Casey Anthony’s, which became over the course of time like a three-ring “circus“. My big concern has always been, having a trial which turns into a 3-ring circus could very well erode further trust in the American criminal justice system.

Karma finally caught up with OJ, it will with this trailer park piece of trash too.? Seeing her attorneys crying and hugging each other…then being seen in a bar sipping champagne.? I guess someone forget to tell Anthony and her jackals that a three year child died.
