Not The Onion, and a warning … your head may explode. School administrators in Grand Island, Neb. want the parents of a 3 year-old deaf child to change the sign for his name because signing his name violates the weapons policy of the school.

A story in the Virginia Pilot concerning a home invasion and shooting outside of Norfolk, Va. originally provided a suspect description that included “black males” but the story was changed to exclude that part of the description. Should editors include black, white, Asian (etc.) as descriptions in news stories when racial identification is pertinent?

Some sort of dispute between the driver and management? A Muslim bus driver elected to stop in the middle of his route for prayers in the aisle of the bus. His positioning during prayers kept passengers from exiting the bus, but nobody said a word.

That is really what it comes down to – political correctness. Army leaders did not want their own career destroyed for calling out a Muslim extremist, so not only did they keep their mouth’s shut, they promoted him so he would be someone else’s problem.
