Obama plays the OBL card … again

Ya know. I don’t evah remember W crowing about disarming Libya, capturing and killing all major AQ leaders in Iraq, capturing SH, thwarting more than a dozen domestic terror plots, including one aimed at LA and the Brooklyn Bridge. I also don’t remember W apologizing for America’s foreign policy, or needing to reset anything with Russia. But then, that’s just me.

At yesterday’s press briefer, a reporter asked Obama to respond to charges he’s an appeaser on foreign policy, which of course he isn’t. He freely gives up our allies and cozies up to our enemies. But predictably he got his nose bent out of joint and instead of handling it providentially he decided to act like a petulant child.

Dan at TheRightScoop.com nails it I think.

As if such no-brainer decisions (well, most of the time) to kill terrorists when we have them trapped negates all the bowing, apologies, and snubbing.

Time for the young President to grow up.

I read somewhere the other day that “giving credit to ?bama for killing OBL is like thanking Ronald McDonald for making your hamburger”.?
    ?
Rather apropos, is it not?? LOLOL!

    • GdavidH on December 9, 2011 at 11:38 am

      That’s perfectly simple.
?This is the kind of stuff we need to start hearing from the repub candidates.

  2. SeeingRed on December 9, 2011 at 9:19 am

Remember,?we have pure?Liberals in power.? They are small people – bragging about death is not below them; life is insignificant (see abortion) and a means to an end.

  3. crystal4 on December 9, 2011 at 9:21 am

No comment..speechless…was on the floor after the 1st sentence “don’t remember Bush crowing”…alternative universe.

    • Dimsdale on December 9, 2011 at 10:16 am

Isn’t “no comment” the act of not commenting?? 😉

    • GdavidH on December 9, 2011 at 11:36 am

Other than the admitted mistake of the “Mission accomplished” fly in, what else YOU got?

Do you really want to get into that peein’ contest here??

      Links please.?

  4. GdavidH on December 9, 2011 at 11:41 am

Obama bragging about being judge, jury, and executioner, hmmm.

Alot less politically messy than capturing, imprisoning, and questioning terrorists.?

  5. sammy22 on December 9, 2011 at 12:31 pm

The ONLY reason why W did not play the OBL card, he because he did not have it. He gloated plenty about his “accomplishments”.

    • Dimsdale on December 9, 2011 at 6:17 pm

How much gloating did he do about the capture of Saddam or his sons?? Links please.

  6. Lynn on December 9, 2011 at 12:57 pm

As always, President Obama dodged the question. Oh I forgot, they still played dodge ball when he was younger, before PC. ? However, I am amazed that he didn’t need a teleprompter for that response, bad as it was. I know I definitely feel safer now that he is our Commander-in-Chief. No I am kidding.

  7. HamHocks on December 9, 2011 at 2:30 pm

This site is now officially pure comedy gold. It has become the place where intellectual conversations go to die and double standards are so commonplace, they’ve just become standards. The ignorance and venom here reads more like a YouTube forum and, sadly, boasts more generalizing, hypocrisy, and ridiculous rhetoric than a ?conversation between two eleven year-olds playing Halo against each other. ?I can’t imagine a less productive way to engage an issue than to see it discussed in these posts. At least Vicevich is ?intellectually dishonest ?because he’s trying to make money off of it. ?What do the rest of you gain? I trust you won’t miss me here, but I still wish you well.

      Good luck over at MMfA

I would say “live long and prosper”, but if you did all you buds would want all your stuff.?

    • Dimsdale on December 9, 2011 at 6:26 pm

Thanks for coming, Ham.? Too bad you didn’t bother to enlighten us with your gems of intellectual clarity, but just chose to snipe.? You will love the insights at Democrat Underground.? The language is nice too.? Best wishes.
      ?
The swipe at Jim was unnecessary and classless though.

Yeah, HH begs the question, just exactly why are you “wasting” your valuable time?

The height of intellectual cretinism is to completely ignore (and denigrate) other viewpoints. Of course this is critical to victim-class indoctrination.? As for the general derision of the O on this Blog,? IMHO it has mostly to do with the FACT that socialist policy is by its definition Marxist class warfare, which has been reduced in America to elitist demagoguery as it has otherwise been completely and utterly discredited worldwide.? It is designed to assign an all-knowing ruling class and destroy initiative and growth. Hop in your Smart Car and toddle off.? ?

  9. JBS on December 10, 2011 at 6:47 am

Wow, that was a horse-opera grade-B cowboy answer. How can you direct a question to a dead man? Or dead men?
Pure conceited hyperbole. That’s his record of accomplishment in the Mid-east?
Sad! He’ll use that line in the debates. Watch if he does . . . sad.
Oh, off topic but, Why do liberals love to swear (real potty mouth) when defending liberalism or Democrat ideas?
    Just asking . . .

    • JBS on December 10, 2011 at 9:29 am

The military K-9 would have given a better answer, one that would have given credit to the teams of women and men who tracked OBL. Many people followed leads, sifted through intelligence reports and to finally find where OBL was hiding. Years of investigative work. Literally tens of thousands of hours finding that terrorist so ?bama can take the credit. He was only in the right place at the right time and darned lucky at that. ?bama’s ego is showing no limits; he swaggers and acts so superior. He truly is a Zer?!

  11. sammy22 on December 10, 2011 at 12:07 pm

I believe that he gave credit to the men and women etc. when it was announced. I suppose that does not count any more.

    • JBS on December 10, 2011 at 12:24 pm

      Links, please.

  12. sammy22 on December 10, 2011 at 12:48 pm

Find and read the remarks the President made in announcing that OBL was dead (can you Google?).

    • Dimsdale on December 10, 2011 at 10:46 pm

I thought you were complaining about Bush’s “gloating”?? And I am sure you really want us to look at the links you are referencing, so it would behoove you and your argument to just cut and paste them into your response so we can see them.? C’mon, I do it all the time!

    • Lynn on December 11, 2011 at 12:32 pm

      Yes, Can you?

  13. crystal4 on December 11, 2011 at 8:05 am

Ok! I give up! No one remembers Bush with the megaphone at 9/11 played over and over for the re-election 2004 campaign! and why..what did he accomplish there??
    As far as Bin Laden:
The president was in Crawford on 8/6/2011. A CIA representative flew there to , in person, give him that famous memo that said that Bin Laden was to strike on US soil (per Richard Clark and George Tenet)
“All right,” Bush said to the CIA operative,? “You’ve covered your ass, now.””
After 9/11/2001 Bush was repeatedly saying he would get Bin Laden “dead or alive”. After a while ..it was embarrassing…so he said he “wasn’t that concerned” about him.
Dec. 2001 US intelligence confirmed that Bin Laden was in Tora Bora. Bush refused to take action.
“Keeping Amurica safe from turrorism” How many times did you hear that gloating?
So, why the refusal to go after the killer who attacked us on American soil?? It would’ve ruin the plans he had already to take us into Iraq.
Cheney and the right saying Bush should have credit for this was hysterical.
And Sammy’s right, you can google Obama’s remarks and you can also google the 6 weeks of planning he took to make sure he…

  14. crystal4 on December 11, 2011 at 8:06 am

was successful. (I can’t imagine a failed attempt..there would be no other topics on this blog!)

  15. sammy22 on December 11, 2011 at 12:28 pm

Dims, posting links is playing a game of “gotcha”. Not my game.

    • Dimsdale on December 11, 2011 at 2:16 pm

Can’t “get you” if your point is well supported…

  16. Lynn on December 11, 2011 at 12:41 pm

Yes, Sammy, but if you see a story with a partial statement in a known liberal blog, and state that we should google it, how does it back up your statement.? A link allows us to know exactly where your statement was found and if it is backed up by other articles. However, you have the right to play your game however you like. Frankly, without links it is? the game Lucy plays with Charlie Brown, when she yanks the football away, even when she promises not to yank it away.

  17. sammy22 on December 11, 2011 at 1:26 pm

Lynn, my reference is the text of the address to the nation that the President made last May announcing the death of OBL. It’s really not that hard to find, as crystal4 noted. Read the whole thing and you will find…….The game being played here is that of selective references, hence the game of “gotcha”. JBS did not bother to look back at what had already been said, hence he posted propaganda.

    • Dimsdale on December 11, 2011 at 2:22 pm

Again, if you post *your* link, then people can read what YOU consider relevant and important.? Who knows where a random Google search will lead?

    • crystal4 on December 11, 2011 at 4:07 pm

Again, please don’t play coy. A you tube of the announcement is all you need to do without commentary. BTW, you told me to get my own link when I asked for one on some elusive comment.

    • Dimsdale on December 11, 2011 at 10:13 pm

See below and remember that this post is not about his speech at OBL’s death, but bringing it up subsequently in a defense of his appeasement laced foreign policy.

    • JBS on December 12, 2011 at 10:54 am

Lynn’s post above is spot on. Dimsdale’s and SeeingRed’ comment’s, too.
And, still no links forthcoming. Plus, why do some people love calling names?
I still maintain that ?bama was just the person who happened to be in the White House to take credit for the counter-terrorist operation that culminated in the death of OBL. It was an ongoing investigation of many years. The dialog and delivery could have come from more than a few Westerns. The impression given in the post above is implicit. He took the credit then and there.? implicit – definition of implicit by the Free Online Dictionary …? <a href="http://www.crawler.com/xfb_redir

    • JBS on December 12, 2011 at 10:58 am

      I intended two links.

  18. sammy22 on December 11, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Dims, read the text of what the President said to the nation on TV. I did, you can too. You can correct me after you read it.

    • Dimsdale on December 11, 2011 at 10:12 pm

Okay, I read the complete text of the speech, and I also read the comparable speech given by Bush upon the capture of Saddam.
      ?
Okay.? The Mirriam Webster definition of gloating is: “Contemplate or dwell on one’s own success or another’s misfortune with malignant pleasure: “his enemies gloated over his death”.
Now focus on the last few paragraphs (or the whole text of both speeches if you prefer), and notice which one was filled with “I did this” and “I did that”.?

Now exactly who is gloating over the demise of who?? And blowing his own horn?

      ?

      ?

  19. sammy22 on December 11, 2011 at 10:50 pm

Off the track again. The post was about Obama and OBL. Ask Jim to write something about Bush and Saddam. Glad you found the text of Pres. Obama speech.

    • Dimsdale on December 12, 2011 at 1:38 am

Since “being on the track” is so important, the post is about the recent “briefer”.?? Your original post stated:
“The ONLY reason why W did not play the OBL card, he because he did not have it. He gloated plenty about his ‘accomplishments’.”
      ?
Well, I showed that ? “played the card, and as Jim noted, now twice, both times referring to how “he” did all the work or was integral to the capture, gleefully picked up by this followers as “?bama got Osama”.? I further demonstrated the Bush did not demonstrate the same (or any) level of gloating in analogous situations, to accommodate both your comments, and support Jim’s first sentence.? I believe it was you, and your post on 12/10 at 12:07, that brought up the earlier, but no less self preening, initial speech.

    • Dimsdale on December 12, 2011 at 1:40 am

P.S.? I am sure JBS is more than capable of defending himself, but where is the “propaganda” again?

  20. JBS on December 12, 2011 at 11:19 am

    I appreciate the support.
Let’s be clear here. My comments were on this post. In the time cycle of the “news”, the sound bite is all important. Perception of the candidate (?bama is always campaigning on our dime) and what is said, is the key in politics. The message becomes the master. To point out, as Jim did, that ?bama was again acting petulantly and taking credit (2X) for ordering the killing of OBL was the point of the post. That is an accomplishment for ?bama to be proud of?
Just where is the “propaganda”? Certainly from ?bama!

    • crystal4 on December 12, 2011 at 1:31 pm

What?? You’re saying that isn’t an accomplishment to be proud of? he should have let him go when there was intelligence as to where OBL was… as Bush did? Are you really serious???
Wow, I know Obama is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t- but this takes the prize!

    • Dimsdale on December 12, 2011 at 2:33 pm

Reread the responses.? It is about gloating, is it not?? As sammy says, go google the text of comparative speeches and compare them yourself.

  21. JBS on December 12, 2011 at 4:02 pm

By accomplishments I am looking for deeds, acts, programs, what have you, that are accomplished by this Regime. So far, ?bama wants to take credit for a killing!
That is going to make for a great campaign, along with that “Hope-N-Change Thingy” (Palin). Killing someone in the name of the state, no matter how necessary and so stipulated, is not what I would call an admirable accomplishment, much less one to cite as a foreign policy triumph. Why not go on to list all of the other criminals executed by the state and use their deaths to further a p0litical agenda. My question still remains unanswered, “That is an accomplishment for ?bama to be proud of?” A raison d’ etat? That’s just a little on the twisted side. My opinion, of course. However, I have asked before, and at the risk of repetition: Please name, enumerate, list, site, reference, hint at, infer, imply, note, or publish any accomplishments, foreign or domestic, even personal, made by the ?bama administration.?
Who is the adult in the room at that umpteenth press conference? See post above^ Jim and most of the responders here nailed it. SeeingRed’s initial comment (Above: “Remember, . . . ” ) cuts…

    • Dimsdale on December 14, 2011 at 4:21 pm
