NRA Basic Pistol class starts Monday

I’m hosting a NRA Basic Pistol class on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23 & 24 starting at 6 p.m. each night. I have three people in the class, and would like to include three more students. If you’re interested in learning about handguns and handgun safety, or are interested in applying for your Connecticut State Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers, this is the course you need.

You can find more about the course I offer over at the Handgun Safety Connecticut website. My classes…

  • Include a small group of six to 10 students.
  • Two nights, of four hours each instead of one, long eight hour day.
  • Includes a very safe, hands-on introduction to guns with no ammunition present on the first night. Practice loading and dry-firing using “dummy” ammunition.
  • Live-fire experience on the second night which is required to receive your NRA Basic Pistol certificate.

More about the NRA Basic Pistol class

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course – a prerequisite to apply for your Connecticut State Permit to Carry Pistols or Revolvers – introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. This is not a concealed carry or self-defense program, rather you’ll learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, various pistol shooting activities and continuing education opportunities available to you.

This course is objective-based, not time based. That said, if you are applying for a Connecticut pistol permit, the state of requires an eight hour program including academic and practical (live fire) components. This program meets State of Connecticut requirements.

You’ll need to read the book prior to the first night of class, so you should sign up right away if you are interested. You can register online right now.

Very nice of ya Steve to get people to get the permits while it’s still legal. They best do it now and not wish they had in the future.

Good for you! I taught privately, one-on-one mostly, and had the pleasure of introducing a number of people to shooting. Most are still with it and keep their permit current.
And, yes, it is best to get a gun permit now before our democrat legislators and nanny Dannel P. decide that permit seekers are viable political scapegoats.
