Kudos to Serena Williams
We don’t do very much sports reporting here, but, this is worth my feeble attempt at doing so.
Serena Williams won her 5th women’s Wimbleton title today. For a while, she wondered if she would ever play tennis again.
A few days after winning Wimbledon in 2010, Serena Williams cut both feet on broken glass while leaving a restaurant in Germany. She needed two operations on her right foot. Then she got blood clots in her lungs, for which she needed to inject herself with a blood thinner. Those shots led to a pool of blood gathering under her stomach’s skin, requiring another procedure.
Ms. Williams defeated Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in straight sets.
I’m wondering though, should our President apologize to Poland.
After all, there are only so many Wimbledon titles to go around and, it would seem that an American has “taken” many of those titles.

The site is not broken.
Could not leave it at kudos, which are deserved. Pathetic.
Would it be less pathetic if he bowed while giving the apology?? Or maybe while he apologizes for the “Polish death camp” gaffe, or scrapping their missile defense shield they were to get as agreed upon during the Bush administration in a pathetic attempt to suck up to the Russians?
Well said, Dims.
Someone told me Ms. Williams is black.? I’m looking into it.? If she is black and blacks start to play tennis, why the next thing you know, they’ll be in the NBA! <—–SARCASM folks.

Seriously, both Venus and Serena Williams are great athletes and if I may be so bold, Serena is a beautiful woman too.? The sisters also won the Ladies’ Doubles Championship this year too…..again. ? Kudos indeed.
…except for the HGH/steroids thing yes, kudos.? The most poorly masked abuse of artificial growth since the East German Women’s track teams of the ’70’s….
Thanks SOS.? The one sport I’ve always loved is tennis and appreciate a mention.? The sisters have gone through some tough ordeals the last few years.? Venus also has a serious disease and another sister was shot and killed in L.A.??
To Seeing Red: Yes, eastern European “women” were given hormone supplements as children when recruited by Soviet Union, they were told they were taking vitamins.? Judging by the way some women look today, would imagine the tradition is being contionued.? However, both Williams’ sisters are devout Jehovah’s Witnesses, so doubt very much they ever took them…both very athletic, train hard and are highly competitive.? Neither has the steroid or testosterone “look.”? They were actually ostracized and ridiculed by other players at the beginning of their careers because their parents wouldn’t allow them to “hang out” with other women players – many of whom were lesbians, probably?as a result of?”enhancements”? they had taken.? Racial prejudice also had a role.
Murray/Federer match was one of the best I’ve ever seen – and I’ve seen a lot!!!!!?
This is why I love to read RVO. ?I always wondered about the Eastern European women and the steroids. Thank you for explaining, a great way to show ?that Government does not always help people and that there are unintended consequences, down the road. ?Congratulations t Serena, she deserves full praise for overcoming extraordinary health problems and persevereing to win, again and again. We can learn much from her dedication.
I think that after enough steroids, the word “woman” comes into question.

You mean they kept score? They all didn’t hug after their little games? It’s just not fair!
The kids are at computer camp . . . I hope they don’t find out about this.
Seriously, ditto kudos.
