God Isn’t Dead But Is On Life Support

Hmmm … we’ve heard this before. Newsweek Magazine running a cover on the fall of Christian America. God Is Dead. As Newsbusters notes, I especially like the new found respect Newsweek has for the holiest week of the Christian calendar.

This Holy Week has been typical. Newsweek proclaimed “The Decline and Fall of Christian America” on its cover. The Washington Post/Newsweek “On Faith” blog featured a post that belittled the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection. The Discovery Channel aired a documentary that painted Jesus as little more than an opportunistic politician who caught a bad break in a trial.

These are just the most notable recent instances of secular media’s disdain for traditional Christians and the tenets of their faith. Anti-Christianism is the last acceptable prejudice. The assault on Christian beliefs and morality is ongoing. Take for example the howls of outrage when the Pope reiterated Catholic teaching on abstinence.

But then when you are trying to sell a dying magazine what better time to do it then to 76 percent of your market celebrating the high holidays. The article is based on  this survey which shows the number of folks calling themselves Christians has declined to a mere 76 percent. Oh the humanity.

Meacham keyed his article around the March 2009 American Religious Identification Survey results that showed 76 percent of American identify themselves as Christians, compared to 86 percent in 1990. He also noted the rise in number of Americans who now state they have no religious affiliation, 15 percent compared to 8 percent in 1990. To Meacham, this is a good sign.

Tomorrow we will be discussing this and we will be joined by the author of “God Is Back”, John Micklethwait. Here’s part of their retort to Newsweek’s article. The authors appeared yesterday on Fox and Friends. Please go to the “book” section to order for yourself.

and here is his co-author Adrian Wooldridge, explaining that the numbers may be smaller but it is more than likely a loss of folks on the fringe.

Join us tomorrow please. Should be good. And go to the books section and get the book.

The longer Obambi is in office, the more people will turn to God.

Satan's greatest achievement is to veil mankind to his existence and the truths of  how evil functions.  He has done a masterful job at this and has gradually created "secular" societies through changing, modifying, refuting and ridiculing eternal truths of salvation.  This finally results in  the denial of God's existence.  There are many Scriptures throughout the Bible that describe the current state of mankind in denial of God, but Romans 1:18-32 sums it up well.

The results of denying the truths of God are evident all over this planet: the simple fact is that there is a limit to how much God can protect those who deny Him/Her, so judgements ensue.  There are literally thousands of Scriptures that prophesy "end time" judgements on this planet.  But these judgements are explained away by the natural mind, and therefore we don't get the message which is turn back to the simple truths exemplified by Jesus, but taught throughout the entire Scriptures.  Just keeping the Ten Commandments, REALLY keeping them, is a good place to start.  Individuals, families, communities and nations can change the downward spiral we are on just by doing this.

For those "intellectuals" who "reason" God out of existence, think about this Scripture,

"the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men" (1 Corinthians 1:25).

THIS issue should be the subject of our "tea parties."  Everything else is just putting natural band-aids on deeply spiritual problems.

Ironic it is when those who have no in faith in God, proclaim it when times are good. But when times are not good, what do they do; THEY PRAY! Proves the truth of the fact that there are no atheists in the foxholes of life. Plus keep a close eye on the churches this weekend, see how they get packed  with many people who do not go to church again other then for Christmas. These folks are looking for REAL HOPE and TRUE CHANGE.

I think the role of deists is over-rated in the historical context of our founding on purpose by many academics.  The overwhelming majority of those involved were Christian.

Go to other countries which were not founded by Christians and see how they value human life in hospitals specifically or in the societies in general.

Those who want to reject God in order to live by their own rules are enjoying a country that has been formed, honoring their human worth and value.  As we distance ourselves from the source of that human worth and value, we will see our society approach that of China with their cold approach to human life in hospitals or even the killing fields in the extreme.

When we don't like it when we get there, it will probably be too late to turn back to better ways.

How could this country EVER have been  rooted in God or Christianity when we (Europeans) built this country on the backs of human beings who happened to be of another skin color.  We murdered, raped, maimed and enjoyed it. We made holidays of lynchings,  and we are still a racist people.  We are always at war in some fashion or other. The question itself  is a farce.

Damn, I'm sure you get along with other people quite nicely… and welcome to the blog by the way!

yanderson, since it is now estimated that Hispanics are the majority population in the US, and many of the rest of us came from other countries as immigrants way after slavery ended, I think you're arguments are both out of date and specious.  Tne US is an ongoing work in progress.

You can speak for yourself, using the personal "I," or speak specifically about people in history, but please do not use  the pronound "we"  because I never did or would dream of doing any of the despicable things you mentioned.

Christianity has often failed to fulfill its Divine call, no question about it.  But, that doesn't mean that God, truths and living a life of holiness is wrong or isn't possible.  It's not God's fault if mankind has not lived right, or taken detours from the roadmap He/She gave us.

Jim's point today was well taken.  If no other person believed in God and truth, would I stand up for it?  As the Scripture says, 'Let God be true, but every man a liar."

sorry, I think the quote is "…and every man a liar" not but!

Almighty God is alive and well..don't panic out there..lol!

Many practice the Christian religion or spiritual philosophy but reject key foundational truths and reality about salvation , who Christ is, Heaven, Hell etc. in the end the "Christian " ideology without the fundamental truths and reality is absolutely bankrupt for eternity. The Bible is not a relative thought but reality and truth that Almighty God wants us to know…Sorry to be so dogmatic… but I believe God and His Word. Either it is true or not..

The question to be asked is how many worship Him in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24). this man's humble opinion..not to many

Obama is about to grant amnesty to 12M illegals, most of whom are Hispanics,98% of whom are CATHOLICS.  If God is on life support in the U.S., He is about to receive an infusion of Spanish-speaking Christians. I wonder if the godless liberals who promote amnesty for illegals considered that angle?
