Arrogance and Pride = Downfall

Great interview tonight on Mike Huckabee’s show on Fox. Former CT Governor John Rowland, forced to resign because of corruption, told Huckabee, IL Governor Blagojevich needs to resign now for the good of the state. He also said Blago needs to tell the truth now.  Plus Rowland had a message for voters and how we choose our elected officials. Good advice I think. Video under the fold.

Interesting take on a couple of fronts. I stood by John Rowland while others took their whacks until I had him as a guest on my show 5 years ago this month. I gave him the opportunity to shoot straight when I asked him if there was anything else coming out on the scandal. He lied to me and that did it for me. I was done. I guess faced with jail, what would I expect him to say. But clearly he knows now, the truth, up front, would have served him well.

But his advice to us citizens, is equally important. We, the people, need to ask more than just questions about issues. We need to get to the core. Given that Rowland has been there and done that, I think its advice were noting. I have believed this for some time. You learn more about what a politician will really do as an elected official when we ask questions about what the candidate truly believes in. Here’s a link on John Rowland.

Jim, when I was working in radio (late 1990's) and Rowland was asked to come to an event, you could always rely on him to be there early. I called him "Old Reliable." Well after his scandal and subsequent lies, that nickname went away. My mom, no Republican by any stretch, when she was working for a local car dealer, had a business encounter with Rowland. He was personal with her, called her by her first name and seemed like a nice guy.

My wish is that jail taught him a rough lesson. My advice: don't run again Rowland. The leftist press in this state won't forgive you one iota!

Rowland giving advice to a fellow felon, isn't that too much. Rowland still hasn't told the truth about what he did (and what he allowed others to do) during his tenure. We will pay the price for his wrong doings for decades to come.

If he had followed his own advice to Blago, we would be in much better shape as a state today.

I wonder if anyone will ever tell the full story of the Rowland Administration's misdeeds?
