A liberal’s view of Memorial Day – UPDATE: Video added
Yesterday, on national television, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes said the following:
I feel uncomfortable about the word hero because it seems to me it is so rhetorically proximate to justification for more war.
In other words, if we just didn’t call our fallen soldiers “heros”, all wars would cease.
How naive.
But, more to the point. I wonder if Chris Hayes met the fathers of Sgt. Felix DelGreco, or Lcpl. Lawrence Philippon he would tell them that he was”‘uncomfortable” with calling their sons heroes.
Thanks to HA for directing us to video.

Uesing the term Hero with any Military is not easy for the left.? The left see no reason ever to go to war.? They see no need for a Military,? except maybe a national guard for help in a Natural disaster.
Draft him and frag him, IMO
” . . . problematic, maybe I’m wrong about that?” Yes, Chris, you are wrong. So very, very wrong.
Chris seems uncomfortable in his own skin.
Every member of the military is a volunteer. Putting on the uniform every day is an act of courage, devotion and love (not the sex kind, Chris). The uniform instantly makes the wearer a target. No one gets up in the morning and says, “I’m going to be a hero today.” Yet, at any moment, a terrorist, whose head is filled with the vitriolic rantings of a fundamentalist imam, could kill any given service member. Dead. And, Chris Hayes feels “uncomfortable” about the word hero? No wonder, Mr. Hayes has no shame, but, then, he is a liberal.
At least a hero stands for something. What do you stand for and respect, Mr. Hayes?
looks like a girl???how sexist…
Yeah Chris, you are wrong about that…… I’ll relay your thanks to my “hero”, my USMC?LT nephew, who is on his second tour in Affganistan……. calling US Service Personnel heroes didn’t create 911 or promote Pearl Harbor either…… the statement from this pompous elite ass is a disgrace!
I’d be uncomfortable sharing a foxhole with Chris!
I am sorry that Chris is so confused. Perhaps, he thinks Freedom is protected by OWSers.
