Restoring The Shining Beacon On The Hill

Just a couple points on Obama’s closing remarks. One kind of nit picky but they bothered me. First, if you are going to quote Reagan quoting John Winthrop, get it right …  its “shining city” , not beacon, but then it comes from one of Winthrop’s sermons and since there were no profanities it might not be a sermon you are familiar with. Cheap shot, maybe, but this one fits.

Second, perhaps in your world children don’t look to America as a shining city any more but all you have to do is look at the waiting list to get into this country , I suspect there are millions who disagree, including 18 million who decided to cut the line.

This is yet one more reason why I do not want this holier than thou, quick to condemn, self important apologist running my country.
