Cokie Roberts: The problem you see is the constitution

You kinda get the feeling that the only thing standing in the way of Obamatopia is that silly document that “No one understands and is more than 100 years old. If only the President could just rule the way they do in … France? Hey, I didn’t say it … I just report it. Ahh my little hostage takers, it’s time to give in to the force so we can just get on with the party agenda.

This little gem is from Sundays this week with Christiane Amanpour. It’s quite a little conversation between Congressman Jason Chaffetz, economist Steven Ratner, and of course Cokie Roberts, is who comes to the unusual conclusion that we could fix our debt problems if we could just do something about this thing the Constitution. No, I’m not kidding. She said it!

It’s kind of a familiar theme on the left isn’t it? I mean, it’s not just coincidence, is it?

John Hawkins writes about this this morning at TownHall … 5 reasons the Tea Party, with its insistance on adhering to principles is messing up the “dream”:

If it wasn’t for those darn Tea Partiers, we’d already be in Obamatopia with unicorn-powered cars and an economy driven to new heights by unity, hope, and most importantly, THE POWER OF LOVE. Why, oh why, do those Tea Partiers want to ruin all that? Why can’t they be more agreeable and civilized — like Meghan McCain or David Frum?

Worse yet, their numbers seem to be growing. According to Gallup, there are now as many people who consider themselves to be Tea Partiers as there are people who consider themselves to be liberals. Obviously there can be only one reason for that: the incredible, pro-conservative bias of the American press. Well, never fear, friends — for today you will read the truth spoken to power! Feel free to pat me on the back for my stunning courage at any time.

1) The Tea Partiers Lost America’s AAA Credit Rating.Sure, the Tea Partiers may have supported the Ryan Plan and Cut, Cap, and Balance, both of which would have preserved America’s AAA credit rating, but what we’ve just experienced is a “Tea Party downgrade.” How does that work? Well, just as Paul Revere caused the British to attack America and Mothers Against Drunk Driving causes people to drive drunk, the Tea Partiers caused America’s credit downgrade with their incessant demands that we cut spending to avert a credit downgrade…or something. It’s a little foggy.

Make sure you read all 5 … then consider releasing your hostages.

Despite what her head-shaking comment about the Constitution might cause someone to conclude, Cokie DID NOT get her nickname because she’s a coke head. She got it because her brother could not pronounce “Corinne.” Both of Cokie’s parents were Democrat members of Congress from Louisiana. They were elected to serve in a bicameral federal legislature created by that problematic Constitution thingy. I’m not sure when she came to the conclusion the Constitution was a problem. Maybe she read something Ezra Klein wrote. ?As for the second clip, apparently messnbc thinks “wonk” means “dumbass.”

New citizens are taught and expected to know that the Constitution is the “Supreme Law of the Land”.
    ?
Why don’t we require the same of our politicians?

Or, of our public schools for that matter.

They never seem to, do they?? I am not sure if it is the realization that nobody cares if they do, or that the socialist utopias they want to transform the U.S. into don’t live up to the promise.

The rhetoric is starting to sound like the 60’s. As Yogi Berra said:” it’s deja’……..”

Is that your tacit approval of her statement?

Oh, yea. Guess what rating France has: AAA. Another socialist country like the Netherlands, Germany, UK, Norway and the other Scandinavian countries and more. All AAA.

It’s easy when you have loads of nuclear plants and America pays for your defense (not to mention the income stream from selling arms to terrorist countries).? Of course, their unemployment rates are considered “normal” at levels considerably higher than us.? Or used to anyway.
      ?
Oh yeah: they don’t have ?bama as president.

These women, Cookie and Christiane Little-Boy-Hips, ought to appreciate that our living and breathing constitution doesn’t just grow old, but grows old gracefully- as they do!? Surely it can be treasured like wicca or some quaint old religion- regarded as something old which is new again!? Its virtue being that it reminds us of mistakes in the past and helps us to temper our silly progressive desires to turn stupidity into a virtue and destroy a system that has served people well for 200 years and has only faltered under growing government control.

In case anybody missed it.? This is the left following Obama’s order: Get in their face.
Time for AMERICANS to buck up and push back.? I am pretty sure alot of ?liberals would think twice about giving up the Constitution.?
Why would they think that they would have free speech if the Constitution was poo poo’d??
How could they demand rights for the down-trodden otherwise??

Obamatopia, perfect. If you don’t mind I will adopt it. As for how the Left would like to rule?
and they DO want to rule this nation, Tom Friedman already told us, like China. I don’t have a lot of faith in voters these days, but I do think some on the Left will kick and scream when they find out you are jailed for speaking your mind. What no NY Times?
