Colorado Democrat: Women fearing rape might shoot first, ask questions later

Well here we have another absurd argument from a politician. In Colorado, state Rep. Joe Salazar (D) thinks women who carry guns for self-defense will shoot first and ask questions later. Of course, there is zero evidence this would happen since women have been allowed to carry openly and concealed for years in almost every US state, and they have not been shooting people.

This Colorado debate is specific to college campuses and HB13-1226. The anti-gun crowd thinks banning firearms on campus will make things safer. This “gun-free zone” argument has proven over and over to kill people for the simple fact criminals don’t care about the imaginary line of a gun-free zone. Unless you’re fine living in a police state where the government sponsors TSA-type checks are all over the place, there is no such thing as an effective gun-free zone.

From National Review Online.

Arguing a [sic] in favor of bill that would ban the individuals from carrying concealed weapons on college campuses, Salazar acknowledged, “There are some gender inequities on college campuses” that put women at risk. He explained, “It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at.”

Salazar continued, “You don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop, pop a round at somebody.”

Supposedly, Salazar has apologized by claiming his comments were in-artful. Hogwash. Certainly, this can be considered one of those war-on-women-by-a-Democrat statements, but the real issue here is that this guy wants to ban handgun carry for everyone, everywhere. There is no issue with women shooting people because they think they might be attacked. I’m not saying it never has happened, but really … find me a story where a woman who thought she was going to be attacked pulled out a firearm and shot someone.

Women carry all over the United States legally. Why would these women suddenly change into a different person and shoot someone because they were at a school? If this was a problem, women would be shooting gawking men at malls, at bars and on the street. But it’s not a problem, it’s made up out of thin air, simply because this guy wants to ban handgun carry for everyone, everywhere.

I’d postulate that more people have been shot and killed by re-offender beneficiaries of early prison release programs advocated by these activist usurper anti Constitutional liberals than gun toting women fearing rape…. another straw man (well, woman) argument on the part of these politicians who have shown their complete lack of concern through their other social and policies.

Clearly, Salazar fears that women would shoot men for “nonlegitimate rape” (a la Todd Akin).? I think this reopens that can of worms.
    ?
Apply the test: imagine the media and liberal (redundant, I know) outrage if a Republican were to dare to say such a thing.

Only a liberal Democrat could utter such patronizing, pretentious drivel.
Who is he to dictate to anyone whether or not she would opt to carry a firearm? Where is his data to support what he said? I am surprised he didn’t throw in references to “the Old West.” Not only does he want criminals to know that there unarmed people in a gun-free zone, he wants all of the moral reprobates to know that Colorado women are defenseless and unarmed.
Possibly so that no one shoots one of his constituents?
    Idiot. Stupid man.

Why do we have to pay for any healthcare for this idiot?

The fool does not know that the mere showing of a firearm prevents more crimes than the use of one does.

These milquetoast, liberal, nannies don’t want you to have a gun!
Biden can blather and bloviate about how a shotgun is better, blah, blah, blah. He really means that only he should have any guns. Not you. Most people who shoot a shotgun don’t like it, the recoil is substantial. The AR-15 is controllable.
How did the one-sided conversation about mental health, and disclosing just who the crazies are, get sidetracked to the Democrats favorite subject — taking away your Rights? Are the Democrats setting the agenda, controlling the narrative and defining the terminology, again?

…. evidence that pot freedom is a good thing, right?…. and where are the outraged feminists?? Never mind, he’s a Democrat.

I concur: where are our esteemed “women’s” groups, the Flukes, the NOW (NAGs and feminazis)???? Why is a “stupid” or “inept” woman comment only relevant when Republicans utter them?
      ?
Why isn’t this all over the media??? (a rhetorical question, of course)
