Your tax dollars at work…helping to pay for the mosque at Ground Zero

I heard on the news tonight that the developers of the mosque at Ground Zero have applied for a grant from the federal government.  They are asking for $5 million (of your money) to provide for “social services”.  Of course, whatever those “social services” may happen to be, in reality, you will be helping to build the mosque.

Any guesses as to whether this administration will approve the grant application?

Meanwhile, as they say, back at the ranch, the TSA is groping grandmothers, and frisking five year olds.

Ain’t America great?

Thanks for letting us know about this "grant". If I might also add to our list of woes, North Korea just fired at South Korea. Will President Obama and his administration realize that as a threat, instead of a five year old in baggy clothes?

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for this administration, it get's worse.  Unbelievable.

What do you expect when our President won't acknowledge that we are even at war with radical Islam. And ground zero is just one more place where they want to erect their monument to their achievement of striking at the infidels. And we will fund it. As SOS says "ain't America great"

How ironic that 9/11 redevelopment funds be used to construct the Ground Zero Victory Mosque. Whoda thunk it.

For Barry the Bolshevick there is no punishment that is good enough for the America of old. We need to be bent to the ground and whipped hard to be made to understand that the woes of the world are of our own making. He completely believes we ourselves made the religion of hate 'n death what it is today.  All of this baggage requires a robust French foreign policy …

"Social Services"  code for  "terrorist training"…ultimately, it will lead to giving aid & comfort to our enemies on our own soil with our own money.  This sincerely makes me want to puke.  Is it possible for our own government to be treasonous?  Just curious.

Other than a very nice desk and an empty suit, the oval office has been vacant for the last two years!

Why does this posts headline read as if the grant is a fait accompli? That's no way to start an adult conversation. Fortunately anyone who has done an independent investigation of the story knows that the check is a long way from being in the mail.

David R, If you've got more information, give it up here. I read tons of blogs yesterday and as many news articles as possible, not much info out there for this. I'd love to know that there will be some sanity and this grant will not be awarded for the Mosque.

I read a few blogs including Ron Paul's, but I depend on news articles/sources that don't seem slanted, don't appeal to emotion and are clearly not  using somebody else's talking points. In this case my primary source was the New York Times, but I cheked with neutral sources to see whether the stories were consistent. I also know something about how the grant process works. Ordinarily grant applications are reviewed by an independent panel and recieve a score depending upon how well they meet predetermined criteria. Grants are awarded to the highest scoring applicants, though in some cases no grants will be made when no application meets minimum criteria. The applicant's budget is part of the grant application to make sure the organization is viable and that the funds will not be diverted to another use. The organization making the grant monitors the recipient organization to make sure money is being spent appropriately and that specific out comes are achieved.

The NY Times? Sorry, I want news, they have had too many plagiarism cases for me. I do know how grants are supposed to be given out. I was a chairman of a grant committee for a non-profit that gave grants. However, I also know how many grants are given with no criteria other than emotions, which the grantees view as fact.

Found an article by Reuters News Service about the grant and the criteria they are using to judge worthiness of grant. It sounds like it could happen.
