Why can’t Connecticut governor provide links to non-government hurricane track info?
Or even the NOAA website? RVO reader Sue H. makes note the Connecticut governor’s “most recent weather update” posted on his office’s website is more than 20 hours old.
There are plenty of Internet websites where you can gather hurricane track information, but other than Twitter feeds, the Connecticut governor’s website does not link to any of them. The PDF with tracking information they provide – again, currently more than 20 hours old – seems to have been complied from information gathered from NOAA, and put into a printable format by Connecticut’s Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.
Why not just provide us direct links to allow us to get the most current information? We can do that for ya…
Here is the most current track of Hurricane Irene as provided by NOAA’s National Hurricane Center. You can select from past advisories to see how the track of the hurricane has changed, and the track is overlayed on a Google map where you can zoom in and move around easily. The most current advisory (#28A) has the storm eye passing into Connecticut a few hundred yards southeast of Sikorsky Memorial Airport, tracking northeast and passing over Bradley International Airport. Again, visit the link to see new advisories every two to three hours.
Important for all along New England’s southern coast is storm surge probabilities. NOAA has that too, again embedded into a Google map. Click on the graphic to the right to see an expanded view, but in short as of this morning there is a 40 to 60 percent chance of a three-foot storm surge during the storm. You can change the graphic to show probability of two-foot surges or any other number. (There is currently a 5 to 10 percent chance of a six-foot storm surge along Connecticut’s coast.
Expected wind speeds are also available from NOAA.

I wonder…does the woman who signs for Malloy during his “pressors” have a specific gesture for “uhhhhh…”??? At one point? my husband, my son and one of my daughters yelled for me to change the channel because he is incapable of communicating effectively.? And before anyone has a hissy fit that I’m being mean to Malloy—it isn’t just that he obviously never took a public speaking class in college, it’s that he’s lied & destroyed what was left of an already shaky CT economy.? Thanks, don’t need Malloy to be my meteorologist, especially if he can’t direct people to pertinent & timely links with storm info.
I suspect that anyone with internet access and a yearn for accurate weather/Hurri info didn’t going to the Guv’s website (thank God).? I just wonder how much it cost the taxpayers ot CT to deliver 20+ hour old data in a real time situation?? Secondly, did anyone at the state level depend on ‘ole Danny-boy’s yesterday forecast?

Is it just me or does anyone else find that he constantly wears his Malloy/Wyman?campaign jacket on official business distasteful? I always thought that once you were sworn in to the position, you represented everyone.

I called nancy when I found out that we would not have power until tues the 6th. I told her my neighbor was 94, on oxygen and it was getting sticky…she could not even run a fan Another neighbor , 89 is alone and stuck in her home.? Within an hour Red Cross was down checking on them and within 4 hours, 4 linemen trucks were escorted to my neighborhood by the police!
Oh, and when at the FEMA center, a woman turned to me and said…no one will vote for Malloy after this fiasco. I went ballistic and said “If it weren’t for his quick demands that FEMA cut the red tape and get over here, you would not be online right now and getting your ice, water and shower!”
