Too good to check – Obama keeps Air Force One in air to watch end of basketball game

The Daily Mail made this one up. I really think it was too good to pass up, and does conservatives no good at all.

From the UK Daily Mail.

President Obama flew to Florida this past week to explain high gas prices.  According to the Washington Post, on his way to Florida this past Thursday, reporters were “perplexed” at the President’s 41 minute flight from Washington, DC to Orlando, Florida taking 1 hour and 15 minutes. The flight was in the air an extra 30 minutes, burning precious fossil fuels.

It does not seem a coincidence that the President landed right at half time of an NBA basketball game between the star studded Miami Heat and New York Knicks.  Some theorized that the President delayed his flight in the air to watch more of the basketball game.

The average flight time for a commercial airliner between Washington D.C. and Orlando is 1 hour 41 minutes. The straight line distance between the cities is about 758 miles. My research indicates the cruising speed of a 747 is about 653 MPH, and an average speed between cities less than that.

I’m thinking the Air Force One estimated time in air should be about 1 hour and 15 minutes with privileges, exactly how long it took to get to Orlando. To travel the 758 miles in 41 minutes, the aircraft would have to travel an average speed of more than 1,100 MPH … not plausible, and more than the speed of sound (768 MPH).

    Maybe reporters just “perplex” easily!

It’s not likely the case here.. ??

Another campaign speech at our expense.
He could set an example and telecommute.
    NAH. Not him.

We really need to have a grown-up in the White House. ?Baby sitting this dumbo has become increasingly expensive!

I guess he is not guilty of this particular childish behavior. But he would certainly have no qualms about doing a thing like that.

We need to listen to what Breibart would have said.? Never lie and never say anything you can’t back up. There is enough true stuff about President Obama, it is not necessary to stretch the truth. But hey it could be a Ramirez joke!

Maybe the title of this should be “I can’t see how The Daily Mail could claim this was possible, put I’m going to post it just so we can bash Obama a little more.” Why not be upset with the things that ARE true?

So when a media outlet takes a swing at Obama, and I point out they are wrong and bring facts to the table, I’m still taking a swing at Obama? You realize the first sentence of the post was “The Daily Mail made this one up” don’t you?

Just proves I can’t win for trying with some people.?

Just so you know, my comment was directed to UK Daily Mail, not to you.? I like it, that you tried a different kind of post. However,? I do think it is interesting that President Obama was revered in UK and all of Europe when he was first elected.? Now, I’m not sure, how UK feels. BTW, you will always win with most of us.

You did a great job of illustrating how it was impossible for the Daily Mail article to have been accurate. But my point is stuff like “Too Good to Check”, the resulting comments (the majority of which just insult him) and the need to just throw some bread to these ducks. Why even bother putting it on here if you knew it was fictitious?

  8. Lynn on March 3, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Ok, Steve is more than capable of defending himself. But you ticked me off. You made your point the first time, and I am not a duck.? Steve put it on here, Ready …. because it was FUNNY. Doesn’t anyone have a sense of humor anymore? Also, all the rest of his comments were facts? not insults to anyone.

Hey Lynn, reread Steve’s reply to me. He had a couple questions and I tried to clarify. So not really sure why you’d be ticked off. Maybe because of the duck comment. I wrote it because it was…ready?…Funny. Oh, and maybe true?
