The Weiner Issue: National security, role model and NYC mayors

Say it as many times as you’d like … politicians are not role models. Heck, they have a worse reputation than used car salesmen, but we really should expect more from leadership, whether it be teachers, business leaders and yes … politicians. But it’s not about sexting or morals, national security is the real issue when it comes to Weinergate.

Seriously … why are we not talking about this? I think I heard a brief reference to the subject a week ago, and Russ Vaughn has a piece in American Thinker this morning.

How did you [Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)]know with any “certitude” that you weren’t exchanging salacious emails and engaging in phone sex with agents of the Russian Federation, the Peoples’ Republic of China or even the Israeli Mossad?

If police departments all across the country use female decoy programs to apprehend sexual predators then does it not stand to reason that intelligence agencies would employ similar tactics to ensnare those politicians and bureaucrats foolish enough to engage in such wildly irresponsible activity in public forums? Any intelligence agency that isn’t actively combing these Internet social networks looking for fools of influence like Weiner is guilty of gross negligence.

Weiner is a member of only one committee – the House Committee on Energy and Commerce – which is indirectly tied to national security, but if you were Russia or China, wouldn’t you love to have a mole on the committee that deals with the supply and delivery of energy throughout the United States and foreign commerce?

Think they would not be all that interested in tapping Weiner for information? In 2005 he was running for mayor of New York City, and as recent as three months ago, he made it clear he wanted to run in 2013.

Nah … nobody would be interested in having that horse in the stable…

Since Weiner is not planning on resigning … that’s fine, but voters should think about this topic when he’s up for re-election in 2012.

Beyond the possible security issues such irresponsible behavior can open;? and beyond the? inherent bad judgment it shows from this guy… bad judgment that will show itself in other ways (votes for certain bills)… you should know that this guy is, at bottom line,? just a common loudmouth jerk.? Journalist Emily Rooney (Andy’s daughter) expressed that opinion last week (WGBH Boston) because of the experience of a relative who once worked for the clown:?? The Congressman Weiner scandal

This guy needs to resign immediately…I don’t believe he is fit for the responsibility this job requires. He has embarrassed the already dysfunctional congress? to the point of absurdity. Both Weiner’s need to go.

Rep. Weiner is the tip of the iceberg in what is wrong with career politicos.

So you are saying that these people are setting Weiner up? So that they can bribe/influence him?? Hmm, that is pretty interesting take that I would have to agree is a damn good idea.

Weiner has now earned his Liberal Badge of Courage.
