The left is at it again…let’s ration air conditioning Update
Yes, you read that correctly. It seems that we once again have “global warming”. This is in contrast to the unusually cold temperatures we had two years ago, that forced the left to rename their cause “climate change”, or, if you prefer, “global climate disaster”.
This from none other than the New York Times,
Temperatures in New York City have pushed toward 100 degrees this week, and air-conditioners strained the power grid…Meanwhile the demand for coolant gases, especially in rapidly developing countries like India, threatens to accelerate global warming.
Is it a good goal for everyone in the world to have access to air-conditioning — like clean water or the Internet? Or is it an unsustainable luxury, which air-conditioned societies should be giving up or rationing?
I can only suppose that the United States is one of those “air-conditioned” societies that should begin thinking about giving up their air conditioners, or rationing the use of their air conditioners.
Any such rule regarding rationing would, of course, not apply to the elites, either at the New York Times or elsewhere. After all, they are the rulers who speak a language far above the heads of the “little people”.
And, I would guess, they will need air conditioning to deal with all of the “hot air” they generate.

Air conditioning poses too much of a burden to our starving planet. I believe that only our elected officials and their designees should have access to air conditioning. They require the comfort so they can better make decisions for us all. The rest of us should be content to toil in the factories and be thankful for our leaders who provide some meaning to our otherwise empty lives.

I see the problem… people should stop demanding the gases because it is the demand and not the actual gases that are causing the global business oppor… errr WARMING.
As for our elected officials being the only ones having access to a/c… I concur but better yet, they should be gallant enough to give up their comforts in favor of a carnival style dunk tank where us overheated factory workers can take turns pitching baseballs at the targets at a quarter apiece to try dispatching a senator into the cold drink… with the proceeds to pay down our national debt.
We? might make meaningful progress against the deficit that way.
It seems to me that things just might be averaging out to something called “NORMAL”.
I think you missed the point, it’s all “those” developing countries that are the problem. How dare they try to have a standard of living similar to us. After all with India’s population passing the 1.2 billion point and China over 1.3 billion, we just can’t afford it.

Let me get this straight – air conditioning bad (too much strain on the power grid, and causing the power plants to created more pollution).? The Volt and Leaf – good (even though their 40 amps at 220 volts out do the 5 – 10 amps at 110 volts of the air conditioner).? Let’s see – 40 * 220 = 8800 watts, and 10 * 110 = 1100 watts.? Which one causes less pollution?? Oh, yeah – the volt and leaf aren’t supposed to cause the power generators to pump more pollution…Captain Planet, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Affordable air conditioning led to an influx of Yankees into the South after WWII. Maybe limiting access to it isn’t such a bad idea, as long as I’m grandfathered in.

Back in the last century, when I was in seminary school, err, undergraduate school, one of my courses was “rocks for jocks.” The learned professor told us we were in between “ice ages.” He explained that we would see fluctuations of temperature, rainfall, storm patterns and atmospheric gas levels.? It must have been before the Left issued the “Standardized Green Indoctrination Course Outline” for college. He also lectured us that all of those things had happened previously in the Earth’s history. After all, it was all in the geologic record.

By the way, the “new” refrigerant gasses are a result of the EPA’s banning the previously very effective CFC-based refrigerant gasses. (It gets very technical.)
The bottom line is that it is difficult to be a self-important bombastic, blathering, blowhard bureaucrat or pompous, pusillanimous, pretentious politician (with perfect haberdashery, “natural” makeup…
Exactly!? We are overdue for the next ice age, and one has to wonder if the release of GHGs has kept it at bay.? That would be a good thing, by the way!? By the way, about 125K years ago, the ocean levels were 15 t0 18 FEET above the present levels, not the piddling few centimeters the warmists are wringing their hands over.? I wonder who they blame for that?

As for freon, R12 production is illegal here, with the less efficient, but theoretically less ozone layer damaging R134a in full use.? India and China, on the other hand, have no such restrictions.? In other words, the problem (as it is) is not here, other than how the electricity is sourced to run the A/C.

If you do not use air conditioning, you will be taxed / penalized (help Justice Roberts ! ).? The money raised will then buy an air conditioner for those in India.?
If Washington doesn’t do it first, then the UN will.? Someone needs to take (steal) the credit for helping out the human race that did just fine without A/C for millenia.
