The Indiana union standoff continues
We told you earlier about a bill pending in the Indiana legislature that would make Indiana a “right to work” state. Should the bill pass, unions will not be banned from Indiana. Rather, Indiana workers will have the right to choose whether or not they want to be part of a union at their workplace, and, whether or not they want to pay union dues.
The standoff continues.
Thirty five House Democrats still refuse to show up for duly called House sessions, thus denying a quorum. The unions are still marching outside the capitol, and now are threatening an “Occupy the Super Bowl” event in early February. I’m not quite sure how that will work, but, I am confident the union leadership will figure out something that will further embarrass unions in general.
What the Indiana House Democrats want now is a “state wide referendum” on the issue. Undaunted by the fact that the Indiana Constitution does not permit a referendum to enact laws (actually, enacting laws is the job of the 35 Democrats who refuse to show up), they are still demanding a referendum.
Personally, I still have difficulty with the notion that Democrats believe firmly that choice is essential when it comes to things like birth control and abortion, but, is meaningless when it comes to things like joining a union and paying union dues.
Wait a minute…could choice only be ok if the choices are “approved” by the Democrats?

Maybe the unions ought to establish membership by a system of? “Voluntary Compliance”- like our tax code…?? They could call it, “Card Check”?????
With unions, it is all about the money. The union bosses need to have more and more members in order to keep those union dues flowing in. More dues means more money for them. As parasites on the union body, they need an ever expanding host to feed off of.
With more members, the union gets greater power. Greater power equals increased influence. And, power and influence means control. The unions can better shape the legislative and economic environment to their advantage.
Unions are a racket in the purest sense of the word.
I have a friend who spends many hours defending mostly clogs in the cogs of his company & making it more difficult for them to compete in the world aerospace industry. He’s well paid for it but the frustration he feels even when he “wins” a bum’s job back is noticeable.
Has the national elite media given this Democrat travesty of holding an entire state hostage as much air time and interest as the accusations of a candidate’s embittered ex-wife?

Can’t you fire the 35 for dereliction of duty , failure to show up for work? Or are they union too?
