The Classless President Elect – Video – Update: Obama Apologizes

I heard this in the car and I was stunned. It was snarky and classless. Not even a convalescing former first lady is exempt from a cheap shot. But then why should she be. His grandmother, God bless her and rest her soul. wasn’t either. Listen closely and watch the video.

More plus apology below the fold.

BTW … he couldn’t even get this right. It was Hillary Clinton who consulted the departed, not Mrs Reagan. I was informed on the show today I needed to give this President a chance. I said I would for the country. The President has asked we put aside the nastiness, I said I would. I guess he has declared the truce officially over.

Update: Obama apparently has called Mrs. Reagan to apologize. Read the entire AP report and you will see he was wrong on so many fronts.

Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said the president-elect later called Mrs. Reagan “to apologize for the careless and offhanded remark.” She said Obama “expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share, and they had a warm conversation.”

One would hope that he would respect the office as much as he will demand respect (earned or not).

    Not an auspicious beginning.

Listening to the "president elect" speak in this press conference was just like listening to him speak on the stump. Could someone please advise Senator Obama that he has won! It's now time to behave in an honorable and Presidential manner! HIs later apology to Nancy Reagan is of little comfort or consequence. What a Jerk!

    From Redstate.com

"Wisdom and judiciousness were not exactly evident when the President-elect forbade FoxNews from asking a question at his press conference. Was this accidental? Perhaps."

A subtle shot accross the bow?

"Lipstick on a pig" all over again.

How can such a "great orator" and pres. of the HLR claim that he didn't know what he was saying?

It was probably an indirect slap at Hillary.

Oh gimme a break. Big deal. BTW, he was not wrong, it is rumored that Nancy Reagan visited astrologer and psychic on many occasions.

This does not demonstrate lack of class, it was a joke and you Marries are just a little too sensitive.

    Erik
If he wanted to make a joke about not talking to dead presidents he should have made the joke about himself and say I no longer see dead people like I did on Memorial day

Erik: "Oh gimme a break. Big deal. BTW, he was not wrong, it is rumored that Nancy Reagan visited astrologer and psychic on many occasions."

Astrologers do not hold seances, nor, generally, do psychics. *Mediums* speak with the dead. So, no, he was wrong. The only first lady who discussed their long conversations with long dead individuals was Mrs. Clinton, who chatted up Eleanor Roosevelt from time to time, by her own admission.

As for being too sensitive, sensitivity doesn't enter into it. If the man wants respect, he has to be respectful, as respect is not given or granted, it is earned.
