Texas Rep. Johnson must resign immediately
Sure, she’s got an election coming up where she hopefully will get tossed out of office, but the revelations today in the Dallas Morning News is incredible. She requested scholarship checks be re-written and made out specifically to family members.
This is a follow up post concerning Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson’s (D-Texas) efforts to hide Congressional Black Caucus scholarship opportunities from constituents and direct those funds towards family members.

Johnson actually used her congressional letterhead to send faxes (PDF, 5.25 MB) to the Congressional Black Caucus with the following requests after the scholarships were awarded.
“Please accept the enclosed scholarship checks for Preston Moore and Gregory Moore. If possible I would like for their checks to be made out to them instead of the University,” Johnson wrote in one letter to the foundation, providing the Plano home address for her great-nephews, Preston and Gregory Moore.
Both have since graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
Johnson wrote a similar letter on behalf of her grandsons, David and Dawrence “Kirk” Johnson of Austin. David Johnson graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos. His brother was enrolled as recently as earlier this year at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
It’s bad enough that she routed tens of thousands of dollars to grandsons and great-nephews, but she also somehow stopped the delivery of the checks in transit and requested the checks be made out directly to the recipients.
Culture of corruption. Culture of entitlement. Nepotism. Bribery. Pathetic.
Just another symptom of the disease.

I don't know which category of corruption this falls under: expected, felonious, arrogant or just plain stupid. Or maybe it falls under all of them. Any pol this corrupt needs to be exorcised and prosecuted. All of it should be repaid, regardless of whether this requires the sale of their belongings. Plus interest and fines.
When they do this, they abuse the public's trust. How can you honestly be the people's representative when you do this sort of stuff? Well, I guess honesty isn't the operating word here…

I think we need to level the playing field by eliminating almost all of this free money whether from Uncle Sam or Mommy and Daddy. Money drives up the cost of education, tips the scales, and creates winners and losers. It's got to be disappointing for veterans to actually earn an education- just to find themselves sitting next to unwashed and unweaned morons who've got to be told to go blow their own noses. If I ever go back to college, I'll be stuffing tampons up their snotty little noses…
There is no more heinous crime or greater disgrace than violation of the public trust. Call her theft what it is, and act accordingly!
Has the Associated Press dispatched eleven investigative journalists to her neighborhood to "dig"? Where's the novelist moving into the house next door to write a "book of dirt"? Will there be harassment against her staffers? How about some hundred-or-so lawsuits? That should drive her from office if not bankrupt her.
