20% of Released Guantanamo detainees go back to fighting (Update)

A classified Pentagon assessment measuring the recidivism rate of released Guantanamo detainees indicates one in five – 20 percent – of them return to jihad. Previous reports in Dec. 2008 (11 percent) and April 2009 (14 percent) shows a trend as the more dangerous terrorists are released over time.

Legal technicality sends six Gitmo terrorists to Yemen (Updated)

On Dec. 26, I linked to a Washington Post article noting the Obama administrations had a list of 34 Yemeni terrorists at Guantanamo Bay who had been cleared for release and six of them would be returned immediately. With the failed attack on Christmas Day, I’m taking another look.

Lieberman to terrorists: preemptive strike

Senator Joe Lieberman seems to understand the gravity of the situation. Get them before they get us. The terrorists are not suspects and their acts are not alledged, they are intent on killing all of us. Joe knows this not because he is a wicked smahhhht analyst. He knows it because they have told us so.

He begins by asking the President to keep GITMO open. Not a bad idea.

al-Qaida in Yemen set up failed terrorist attack on airliner

Additional details on the failed terrorist attack over the skies of Michigan on Christmas day. Federal authorities say Abdul Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian student was directly supported by al-Qaida in Yemen. He was not on the official no-fly list, but Abdulmutallab’s father had warned U.S. officials months ago concerning his son’s activity.
