Unbecoming of an Officer…in this case the Secret Service

By TomTGRWolcott / June 19, 2012 /

The Obama administration seem to be grasping at straws.  Clutching and clawing at any idea to keep the White House out of the hands of  former Governor Mitt Romney.  Amid the scandals of the Secret Service, lets be clear that there have been incidences under prior administrations, George W. Bush and even Bill Clinton.

Obama again displays the difference between statists and conservatives

By Steve McGough / February 29, 2012 /

Maybe it’s not statists and conservatives, but to President Obama it’s him against his opponents. On his home-turf in front of a United Auto Workers crowd in Washington yesterday, Obama couldn’t grasp the concept that wanting to be on top and working together is not mutually exclusive.

My opinion will not be silenced – Conservatives have rights!

By Steve McGough / January 11, 2011 /

Saturday’s events in Tucson were tragic. For reasons not explained, some 22 year-old nut named Jared Loghner made the choice to visit a peaceful gathering of people, kill six and severely injure 14. Evil manifests itself in many ways all the time, and this is one example. For media pundits, bloggers and politicians to take this evil act and…

Do we need more politicians like New Jersey Governor Christie?

By Steve McGough / May 14, 2010 /

I think… yes. This is a video from a May 10 press conference where a columnist asks Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) about his confrontational tone. The way I look at it, politics by definition is partisan. That’s the whole idea of politics.

Symptom of the Disease: Politicians and their investments (Example 2)

By Steve McGough / June 29, 2009 /

For my next Symptom of the Disease example we review politicians and their personal finances. When politicians are involved with the regulation of business, they automatically are privy to a defacto version of insider trading. Cleveland.com reports members of the House Financial Services Committee were buying and selling banking and financial service stocks last fall.

Politicians playing games: Oil subsidies that are not subsidies

By Steve McGough / May 3, 2011 /

Let’s all say the words at the same time … business expenses. You know – expenses – the fixed and variable costs that companies incur as they spend money in an effort to put people to work and make a profit. Politicians are now in the habit of referring to “big oil subsidies” that are…

Everyone is Reagan – but we just want a Conservative

By Steve McGough / February 6, 2008 / Comments Off on Everyone is Reagan – but we just want a Conservative

Jed Babbin writing for HumanEvents.com. (My emphasis added and the full article is here.) Tomorrow, both McCain and Romney will address the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC. (Huckabee will appear on Saturday morning). The speech McCain will give could be the best opportunity McCain will have to reach out to conservatives and bring…

Like Rats Abandoning a Sinking Ship…

By Dave in EH / January 1, 2010 /

Apparently, there has been a crisis of confidence of late within the ranks of the Democratic party, with recruited candidates backing out of their races, even in putatively “safe” districts.  From “The Hill:” “Democrats have lost yet another touted recruit, this time in Kansas. State Sen. Laura Kelly (D) just announced her withdrawal from the…

Robert Reich vs Newt Gingrich Smackdown

By Jim Vicevich / February 8, 2009 /

Yes and so much more. Allow me to set it all up.And its all about this week’s “Democrat Talking Point” Reich begins to push the Democrat talking point of the day (more on that in a bit). He claims Republicans don’t want to be a part of the bill because when the economy doesn’t get…

Obama’s playbook: Same rhetoric, different decade

By Steve McGough / October 18, 2011 /

This is all the guy and the Democrat leadership have. Those other guys … the mean Republicans … want dirty water, dirty air, kids starving while they don’t have enough teachers in the schools.
