At least that is what Spike Lee may think. While discussing tomorrow’s events, the panel from Morning Joe seemed to sense God had a hand in the outcome of the election. But there is more interesting video from the show on MSNBC early this morning.
Hat tip to Malkin, with the following from FinkelBblog.
SCARBOROUGH: I’ve always believed, and it seems naive, that God’s had a hand in America, and I get a real sense you feel that God has had a real hand in this.
LEE: So many things have happened. All of a sudden, the economy goes south at that moment, and then McCain [gestures going down]. …
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: It almost propelled him to office.
LEE: There were so many things. It was almost a movement that had to be ordained, I think.
Granted, Lee did not mention God’s direct involvement in the market woes, but it was implied.
I took the time to watch this segment online – provided below – and was struck by a few things. First, when discussing the Founding Fathers at about 2:40, Lee completely disses them. To him, they are irrelevant since they owned slaves. We all know that some of the Founding Fathers owned slaves, but Lee seems pretty stuck on that subject.
Does he forget what the Founding Fathers had given up?
Lee also seems pretty mad that only five out of more than one hundred college football coaches are African American. He’s not bitter at all…
Mika Brzezinski – co-host of Morning Joe – basically lets us know that young black males in the United States really had nothing to live for before now. Everything is changed because of this one moment in time. She states – about five minutes into the clip – that for African American children, they are realizing just now that anything is possible.
So much for African American and other black role models like Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Thurgood Marshall, Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu among many others. I guess Brzezinski does not think those role models mattered to the black youth of America.
Don’t feel the joy of the occasion? Brzezinski thinks you should enjoy it and take it all in or “just leave town”.
