Why are people leaving California, and, who are they?

By SoundOffSister / July 22, 2012 /

We did a post recently about the problems of the California pension system.  That prompted a somewhat lively discussion in the comments section about the population of California.  Thanks to those comments, I was reminded of an article I read several months ago that is “exactly on point”, as we lawyers say.

Newport Beach lifeguard staff and unsustainable pensions

By Steve McGough / May 9, 2011 /

Lifeguards have an important job as first responders saving lives just like EMTs and paramedics. But in Newport Beach, Calif., it’s not a question of their performance or need, it’s the $100,000 in pay and benefits many guards earn each year after retirement at age 50.

By Steve McGough / May 19, 2010 /

California demands US taxpayers bail them out

By Steve McGough / January 4, 2010 /

California is suggesting regulation changes to expand responsibilities of nurses, physician assistants and other health care providers when it comes to patient care.

What was Governor Jerry Brown thinking?

By SoundOffSister / July 16, 2011 /

Ca.) signed into law a bill that mandates that all California schools add lessons about gay and lesbians to their Social Studies programs.  Whether you have issues with gay rights or not, this law should outrage you for what it not so subtly accomplishes…divisiveness.

Some on the left are finally getting it

By SoundOffSister / April 2, 2011 /

Would you expect a mini-uprising against public unions to be launched in San Francisco, California?  Would you expect that Democrats would be leading this mini-uprising?  If your answer to either of these questions is, “no”, please read on.

Governor Moonbeam has a Flashback

By Dave in EH / October 27, 2010 /

It has been said, in a less political correct era, that California is like a bowl of granola.  Looking at some of their past political leaders, the old line about nuts and flakes comes into its own.

Do it for the children

By Jim Vicevich / August 13, 2010 /

I’ve written before and ranted on air about using kids as human shields for adults furthering their own interests. When teacher unions demand the bulk of the $26 billion dollar bailout (their second) to save their jobs and the use the health and welfare of children as the shield, it’s repulsive. There is nothing compassionate…
