Senator slap-down: Milwaukee County supervisor schooled on Arizona’s border with Mexico

Sure, this is a local government official and not a national politician, but it was funny and the story points out many who are making ‘boycott Arizona’ demands have not read the legislation are are not at all familiar with the situation in Arizona.

First, the video of Milwaukee County Board Supervisor Peggy West who approved of the suggested Milwaukee boycott of Arizona. She would have given more consideration to disagreeing with the boycott if Arizona was more like Texas … and shared a border with Mexico. <rolleyes>

I have confirmed Arizona shares its entire southern border with Mexico. All 389 miles of it. That said, this post is not designed to make fun of one graphically-challenged county board supervisor, rather point out – again – that the bureaucrats and politicians making the decision to boycott Arizona have not read the law, or understand what is going on.

Next, the formal letter (PDF,700 KB) from Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), again with a hat tip to Malkin.

The Honorable Peggy West
Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors
Milwaukee County Courthouse
901 North 9th Street, RM 201
Milwaukee, WI 53233

Dear Supervisor West:
I understand that, when speaking about Arizona’s new immigration law at a Supervisors’ meeting recently, you said:

“If this was Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding the borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border.”

You will be interested to learn that Arizona does indeed share a border with Mexico. I have enclosed a map for your convenience.

I hope you will take the time to actually read the Arizona law before formulating an opinion about it and become familiar with our country’s geography and the challenges that our border states face.

JON KYL
United States Senator

    But it gets worse: http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/obama-fox-ille
"The Obama administration has been holding behind-the-scenes talks to determine whether the Department of Homeland Security can unilaterally grant legal status on a mass basis to illegal immigrants, according to Fox News." Obama needs to be impeached! He studied constitutional law with the same intent as a criminal who goes to locksmithing school!

This is a ubiquitous problem with lefties: they pretty much believe whatever they are told, and lack the critical thinking and curiosity to verify what they are told. This is not limited to the odd uneducated county supervisor or president either: I have personally experienced it with Ph.D.s in the workplace. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh ant my desk, and the person in question made a blanket statement about Rush, to the effect that everything he says is BS (where have I heard that here?). I asked her to give me one or two examples, and she said, and I quote, "I never listen to him". I subsequently commented that I hoped her science was better substantiated than her opinions. And then I turned the radio up louder….

Now I know why someone invented the word "libtard"….

I've run into several conservative academics- even at several campuses in the Amherst MA area. Unfortunately, they are all, in the closet, afraid of how they might be received by the more open-minded, liberal and tolerant folks on the campuses.

      Welcome to my world.

      From the Urban Dictionary:

(Lib-Tard) 1) Combination of the words Liberal and retard (see also: Libterd, libturd, libnerd, libsurd, libdiot, libored) 2) The result when a tree hugger successfully mates with a tree and the offspring is born with an extra chromosome. 3) Any helpless society that must always be liberated by the blood and sweat of others yet are too arrogant and stupid to realize that they owe their entire existance to others.(see also: French-tard, French-Tarded, Retarded-Frenchmen).

As repetitive as it sounds, it stands for "liberal retard." A libtard wants to live in a fantasy world (in which life is the way that they WISH IT WAS) as opposed to dealing with life the way it actually is. (This explains the religious fervor that many of them demonstrate when it comes to smoking pot). The most idealistic libtard envisions a time when science/technology and Socialism will eliminate all poverty, hunger, war, disease, injustice, unemployment and prejudice. (It is a nice pipe dream but human nature will forever stand in the way of that goal). Most libtards subscribe to the notion that "people are basically good", and build their foundation for activism and "improving the human condition" on that faulty premise. Because they deny the facts about human nature, their "reasoning" is diametrically opposite to common sense (blue states vs. red states). The reality that people have different initiative levels, are basically selfish, and often work for their own interests before helping others, puts a libtard's panties in a wad. So, when citizens will not voluntarily comply with various libtard prescriptions for "the common good", then laws must be passed, or force used, to MAKE them comply. (It is the gradual path to totalitarianism). Likewise, his/her naïve cries of: "can't we all just get along…

And that is just the tip of the iceberg (all references to a liberal Titanic intended)…

    Another Obama scholar at work.

The Department Of Education must be proud of her.

Another lefty heard from. Funny how they seem to make the news(?). It is interesting that she has a public forum from which to spout her ignorance and she unabashedly uses it, the truth be damned.

As a public school teacher, finishing my career with the state technical system, I learned fast that job performance reviews and continued employment deep within the lefty (enemy) lines, it was best to keep quiet that my libertarian thoughts to myself. When once I declined to contribute to a union PAC, I was jobless next year. That is how vindictive the leftys are.

While finishing up my career with the state, I learned that there were other teachers who didn't toe the far-left line. They also learned to keep their political thoughts to themselves.

It is the reverse form of "McCarthyism"; you are either with the progressives or you are branded as a heretic. And, there is NO limit of how many stupid things these supposedly free-thinking, open-minded individuals will say. I would cringe hearing a student wax eloquently about 'Manifest destiny" and how the slaughter of the Native Americans was glossed-over to a paragraph in the history texts, etc., etc.

So, this dumb bunny from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a supervisor (!), is just a small public demonstration of what our school systems are pumping out. I hope that Senator JON KYL included a map of the entire United States because I would not be surprised if she couldn't find Wisconsin on a map unless it was labeled. At that, she would probably argue with you that Wisconsin really should be over here or that it should be bigger. I bet she couldn't name the states with which Wisconsin shares a border.

    Easy money, that.

Dimsdale: I love the term "libtard." It says it all so succinctly.

http://www.milwaukee.gov/West "Supervisor West also has the unique distinction of being the first Latino/Hispanic American to be elected to the Milwaukee County Board."

It's ironic that there are no unique distinctions for being a barnyard mongrel! I once volunteered for a very liberal group and found myself in Kenya being lectured on cultural sensitivity by a 23 y.o. pasty faced blonde chick from Wilton CT who'd gone to Colby College and held an esteemed degree in Journalism. "You don't know what it's like to be black…" she told me! Ironically, the culture shock for me wasn't hanging out with Kenyans, it was hanging out with rich white missionaries from the church of liberalism.

“Supervisor West also has the unique distinction of being the first Latino/Hispanic American to be elected to the Milwaukee County Board.”

I think you just listed the only reason she was elected to the County Board. I would be remiss if I did not point out that the same qualifications elected Øbama to the presidency. These two examples demonstrate how shallow and shallow in the critical thinking sense that the media and the government schools have made the electorate.

I appreciate your story on the cultural "superiority" with which the lefties bequeath themselves. And it extends to the government. The bottom line: the lefties think they are morally (if that word can be applied) and intellectually superior to everyone else, and need to "control the public".
