Rubio vs Kerry on the debt ceiling

This is from Hot Air and normally I would not post on something like this … but just point you to the video during the show. But a couple close friends found this floor speech so powerful that I had to put it up.

Senator Marco Rubio (R,FL) spends the first 5 minutes blasting Democrats for labeling Tea Party supporters as “extreme”, when in fact, Rubio says, the Tea Partiers are sensible given the crisis. It’s not about the ceiling… it’s about the debt. He then calls out key Democrats (namely Obama and Reid) who opposed debt ceiling increases under “W”.

When Sen John Kerry (D,MA)jumps in at the 7:30 mark to make the claim that things weren’t so serious then as now, Rubio goes to town. Please watch it all.

Interestingly, Kerry’s argument is more revealing. It says Democrats just stay stuff that is often meaningless and intended only to incite he people. I’ll remember that next time.

I do believe the junior senator from Florida just pummeled the horse-faced, intellectual lightweight from Massachusetts.

lol, Tim, as always, you are the master of succinctness.
    ?
As for Senator Rubio, I could listen to this guy all day. He knows his stuff.

Regarding the first 5.5 mins of speech; the plan all along: 822 days with no budget, let things get critical, do nothing for 2.5 years, submit an absurd budget that even the Dems wouldn’t vote for, and then push for something hasty in the last 72 hours???? NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE!? Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it… until 2017- unless Obama rescinds the 22nd amendment by executive order!

Jim, I’m glad you posted this. I watched it live and in the back of my head? I could hear? “Hail to the Chief”?Rubio knows what the middle class wants and needs. There is a glimmer of hope for the future.? Rand Paul also gave the Senate a lesson in what “compromise” is.

What a fabulous speech…this guy is amazing.? Here’s hoping that he’s on that 12-member bi-partisan committee/super congress to cut spending.? We need someone with a voice who isn’t afraid to use it–someone who speaks for us lowly tea partiers.

What is he doing, providing a coherent and logical argument?? This isn’t the way the government business is supposed conducted, is it?

    • Dimsdale on August 1, 2011 at 11:09 am

That is why is sounds so unique!

  7. ladygolfnut on August 1, 2011 at 11:07 am

Owned!! Too bad we don’t have a few dozen more like him running the government.

Rubio is pure gold!? For all the thinking people in Massachusetts, I apologize for John F’n Kerry (and Frank, Olver, etc., etc.)
    ?
So Kerry was saying that Senator ?bama was effectively “voting present” once again by his 2006 speeches and votes on the raising of the debt limit?? Was “the worst economy since the Great Depression” phrase, all too frequently used by the likes of Pelosi et al. similarly just bloviating?
    ?
Ya can’t tell the bloviators without a scorecard.? Or a brain…

Yet we are forced to listen to continual tirades by ?bama, the bully in the pulpit.

I keep reviewing the video for something and yet I can’t seem to find it……the teleprompter!

    Take Down…..Match Over! Go Rubio

  13. Lynn on August 2, 2011 at 7:50 am

In the last post, I just wrote that we need optimistic, blue-collar work ethic to turn this country around and who does that sound like? Maybe it is not too early for Rubio for President. Jim you and SOS may be right.

  14. sammy22 on August 2, 2011 at 10:10 pm

Way to go Lynn. The market surely bought into the Tea Party mantra.

    • Dimsdale on August 4, 2011 at 7:09 pm

Too bad that the liberals didn’t listen to the market.? That is the real problem.
