Reid Health Care Bill: The dissection continues – Tort Reform

This is truly priceless. How Sen. Reid (D-Nev.), or any other senator, for that matter, can propose this language with a straight face is perhaps a good indication of how bad the Senate version of Obamacare is.

Beginning at page 1858  in Section 6801, the Senate, no doubt with furrowed brow, plunges into the serious issue of tort reform.  Here’s what they say:

(1) Health care reform presents an opportunity to address issues related to medical malpractice and medical liability insurance,

So far, so good, I’m thinking.  After all, the entire substance of this 2074 page bill is health care reform.  So, I read on.

(2) States should be encouraged [to do something about medical malpractice reform]…

And finally,

(3) Congress should consider establishing a state demonstration program to evaluate alternatives to [the existing system].

That’s it.

I’m sure the AMA is breathing a lot easier now.

    Ah yes, the weasel words.

     

    How about this, Harry: Senators and Congressmen "should be encouraged" to actually read the legislation they vote on, and "should consider" representing their constituents and not the DNC (or RNC for that matter).

     

    Better yet, maybe we should consider, and be encouraged to fire them next fall.

    Our 'wonderful' Senator Dodd has just led the Senate one step closer to screwing not only Connecticut citizens but every citizen in this country.  The cloture vote just passed.  "I worry".  Actually I'm scared to death.

    Honestly… that's about the only part that I don't have any problem with. Now we just need to get them to have the states deal with everything else in the bill and we're golden.

    I want to see this white elephant (can I say that anymore?) reconciled with the equal protection clause clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, particularly with regard to the premise that congress can exempt itself from this garbage.

     

    It seems to work for everyone else….
