Providence Mayoral Candidate hoping to sing his way into office

His sincerity isn’t just refreshing, it’s stunning. Hey man, you are running for office, what are you trying to do anyway, change the face of politics. Move over Basil Marceaux … there’s a new kid on the block.

Actually the interview deserves comment on a lot of fronts. The anchoress seems to be more incoherent than the candidate, Christopher Young, who’s pretty rocky himself. Especially the, well that was a heavy question, what’s your favorite place in Providence? Church, Mr Young says, I’m Catholic. Excellent. Or the obligatory, what do you like to do for fun? That’s where he breaks into song. It’s was like she was using all the questions she had saved up for the next pop music guest. Embarrassing for someone who used to be in that business. My guess is Boston will be calling any minute.

This is from Fox TV in Providence via AP at Hot Air and it’s … very entertaining especially when he sings his song of oppression. Classic.

Just in case you forgot, there’s a lot of this going around this year.

UPDATE: Oh brother, guess Mr Young has a bit of a reputation. Last month he got tossed from a debate for carrying a statue of the Blessed Mother into the debate.

Then there was the “Will you marry me?” moment  at this week’s debate. The moment comes at 2:30:

This reaffirms my belief that Rhode Island is Massachusetts' "mini me".  This guy is one Prohibition away from siring the next Kennedy Crime Family!

I only wish Alvin Greene had his turn…

Alvin has been getting himself into trouble to this day…NEVER SAY DIE, ALVIN!

Re. Christopher Young:  I believe the cruelest thing anyone can do is allow someone to believe that they are capable of singing when they are clearly INcapable.  This "interviewer" (ha!) never should have THANKED him for serenading her.

I don't know what exactly to think about this guy, but I know that I wouldn't vote for him based on his singing.

I guess give the venue everyone has the right to embarrass themselves.

Why is Basil wearing a badge? Don't tell me he's a cop

I had to stop watching the first video. He reminds me a little of Chris Farley's uncomfortable talk show host character.

Exactly, Tim!   I knew he looked vaguely familiar!  Now I have to go watch the Chippendale sketch again!  For the uninitiated: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otlmUWuJSvw&fe
