Politicians STILL taking money from TARP recipients.

As late as February politicians were still taking campaign contributions from TARP recipients. (click the image below for the story).

While the AIG bonus fiasco was unraveling, politicians and the media whipped our population into a frenzy, demonstrating once again how easily some (if not most) Americans can be manipulated through fear and anger to adopt whatever stance they are told to take.  Critical thought be damned.

Even though this bonus money was .01% of the money that has been distributed, politicians crowed “It’s not about the amount of money, it is about the principle.”

For all of you who were so easily whipped into the frenzy over AIG, how about whipping up a little frenzy toward your politicians who are STILL taking political contributions from companies that took TARP money. Where is the anger and the outrage? Where are the bus tours of the politicians homes? Where is this populist uprising now? The amounts may seem small ($5k here and $5k there), but they are taking taxpayer money, and remember … it’s the principle.

And they just keep getting away with this stuff.  We know they are bought, they know they are bought, and they are buying each other to pay for deals with our money.  It is not even a matter of them thinking we are stupid.  They simply don't care what we think.

I second that: they simply don't care anymore.  This is what comes of a one party majority in the Congress with a lightweight president.

I guess it would be different with an objective media.

These people have no shame, why would we expect them to be embarrassed?

They will continue to lick the public trough clean and stuff themselves any other money they can.

Bailout money? Its not our money anyway, its their money. If they could only figure a way to cut out the pesky middlemen.

BTW, we should stop chattering and get back to work. They need more of their money to waste.

That's right.  Both sides.  They know we know and they still get away with it, because they can.

This is what you get when the Supreme Court equates money with speech.  This is what you get when SCOTUS rules that corporations have free speech rights the same as a living, breathing citizens.

One man, one vote.  Not one dollar, one vote.
