Peckinpaugh in … running for Congress

Hey, why not? Citizen legislators. The more the merrier. Really though, don’t you just crave more information on this one?

Kevin Rennie broke the story here. And here’s a lift from Dennis House’s blog.

Just when you thought Campaign 2010 couldn’t get any more interesting, former WFSB anchor Janet Peckinpaugh is now running for congress.   Kevin Rennie broke the story http://www.dailyructions.com/shes-in/

Peckinpaugh worked at Channel 3  in the 1980s and 90s, coming to us from WTNH.  She later worked at WVIT.  Since then she created a public relations firm and recently appeared in commercials.

Peckinpaugh brings something to the table many politicians dream of:  name recognition.   That familiarity with voters could turn the race for the 2nd district into a horse race.

I worked with Janet too. She’s smart and passionate, make no mistake about that. She knows her stuff. But I have no idea where she stands on the issues and in my book you don’t run unless you see deficiencies in the other folks already in the race. And while I clearly do not know much about the political game and how it’s played, my guess is here someone convinced her to run because:

A. she’s passionate about making a difference in DC, and B. she can raise a boatload of do, re, me. which is actually A and B. OK chatters, time to chime in on this one. Leave a comment.

Janet revealed in an article posted in the Hartford Courant a month ago about being in a marriage where she was repeatedly abused, assaulted and raped.  The reasoning for the article was unceratin to me at the time.  Why did Janet, a person with visability, visual and name recognition allow such an article to be written?

We now know why.  Put the unpleasantrys on display, gain some sympathy and use the "victim" moniker to gain a voter advantage.

This is another one of Chris Healy's steps to control the Republicans who he sides with in the electoral process. Chris Healy has failed to derail Daria Novak from her campagin efforts in the 2nd District to run against Joe Courtney.  Now, the Healy machine is getting behind a candidate that he wants to maintain political influences over.

Janet may be a fine person, but she has done nothing thus far to demonstrate her capability to be seriously considered as a better candidate to those who announced over a year ago and have worked hard to earn the Republican nomination to run against Joe Courtney.

Chris, whydon't you put the same energies into getting Republicans to run against exisitng Dems in state house seats.  How many in state races are currently in the "Incumbents running unopposed" category?

Right now out of 36 Senate seats…22 do not have a challenger and out of 151 in the House…92 do not have a challenger.

Chris Healy, stop medeling and start performing….for all of Conn.

I don't even know what to think about this…it's very out of left field and I find myself asking, "WHY, WHY, WHY???"  Name recognition could get someone elected, but it does not mean that they are the least bit equipped to do the job or that they deserve the votes/job more than someone without name recognition.  If nothing else, it should be interesting in my district…

SPOT ON Wayne! The chief reason why so many seats Wayne go unchallenged is two factors: MONEY, or lack of and a PESKY old msm that will try to drag out any and all old skeletons out of the closet. It is that simple.

Healy is pulling the same stonewalling tactics against Ann Brickley, running in the 1st against John Larson. It seems his political machine is backing the "ZMan". I have seen this woman speak at our local meetings and she is a far more qualified candidate than the one Healy and his cronies are backing. Many of my cohorts agreee she is a truly viable candidate, yet the leaders are being told to go with the "Z" for the sake of the party. They don't give her the right time of day.It appears they are stonewalling her efforts. Isn't this the same kind of cronie-backing BS that we are so fed up with inWashington Today?  I say let all the candidate have their say. Healy is pusjing his own agenda here and as a Republican, I am fed up with this kind of old style political machine politics. Ann Brickley is a fresh voice with the right motives that can defeat Larson. She's the knd of candidate that we need to win and go to Washington to fix the mess we are in.
