Olympics to … NOT Chicago, but Rio

The International Olympic Committee just voted to give the 2016 Summer Olympics to … still waiting, but Chicago is OUT.

Update: Second round Tokyo is OUT. Madrid and Rio is left, I’m guessing Rio.

Final Update: The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in either Rio or Madrid. I guess the final announcement will be at 12:30 p.m. ET or right about then.

Rio for Summer 2016.

No suprises here that Chicago would be the first to be voted out. The IOC, which has had its own brushes with corruption, still very much REMEMBERS the Berlin 1936 Olympics and they did not want to have to see President Obama turn it into another event promoting his vision for socialism. Just a thought.

Also what sealed the decision against Chicago was that very disturbing video of the brutal murder of that teenager. If Chicago cannot protect its own, could the IOC trust it to protect visiting athletes and spectators.

I was pulling for the US. Rio had something better, including hosting the Olympics in So. America for the first time.

Sal: probably for the same reason they haven't "fixed" all that waste etc. in Medicare.  Or found Osama bin Laden, or closed Gitmo, or fixed the economy or (insert failed campaign promise here).

I am still laughing at the media tools that were proclaiming that the supposed "in the bag" win for Chicago was due to the "Obama effect" (plus a little Oprah, it seems).  Too bad for them that the "Obama effect" is negative, not positive.  For the liberals in power, anyway.
