Obama to Connecticut: This election should be a no brainer
Well, it is, just not how the President imagines it. Obama campaigned in Connecticut last night to raise funds from Connecticut’s “wealthy” for Democrat candidate Dick Blumenthal. With a 70% like-ability factor in the state, it should be a layup but its not. But a “no brainer” it is.
I’ve put up Mark Davis’ report from WTNH for some video because it is a good report. Well done.

Here’s the bottom line. Blumenthal is flailing and not even the President can understand that. But it’s easy to understand. There was Vietnam, then there was the Vancouver fund raiser with attorneys, then there’s his support for the across the board tax increases, cap and trade, health care, not to mention his stand on cutting the budget (stop the moon shot) and creating jobs (sue the bastards). Maybe it’s just me. But the polls say it’s not. Blumy by 6% and sliding.

Jim, at a time when MANY Democrats are RUNNING AWAY from President Barak Obama, this meet-up with CT AG Richard Blumenthal who is running for the USA Senate from CT, this could very much be a "political kiss of death" for Mr. Blumenthal. Just a thought.
Anybody read Krauthammer this morning. Does he have a point?
I'm thinking that the 70% approval rating is not so applicable to electibility. the "consumer protector" element of the "sue big biz" mantra appeals to some on a visceral populist level, especially as few people have actually ever met him. He comes off as stiff and a bit clinical. Which is why I suspect his handlers are not putting him out in one-on-one situations publicly. But the logical follow through to "politician" really does not compute. If you match up the actions and statements of the last number of years you get a career liberal with a bent toward prevarication and self promotion. Gee, just like we already have in Washington! Watch the poll #'s get even closer.
Obama on a downward slide has little power to help another to gain office. Many democrats are moving away from him as his popularity is waning. Good advice for anyone running would be not to associate yourself with a loser, right now Obama is a loser. For Blumenthal to associate himself with Obama so far as to have him come here to CT for a fundraiser clearly shows he is winner. Poor Blumie has just signed the ending of his career plans for the Senate.
Also should you research no candidate to date with Obama's help has won, they all lost. Why would anyone want to risk his help with those odds? Blumie must be career suicidal.
The problem for them is that it IS a no brainer. Even after Couric's piece last night with the obligatory wrestling references (to be fair, the Vietnam lies were mentioned, but glossed over by Dick), his record, combined with the very thin promises to "fight" for all sorts of things rings hollow. Øbama's visit simply proves that he will not be as independent as he claims. He will be a good little tool for the administration, particularly now that he is beholden to them.
Rambo Blumenthal thought this was going to be a cakewalk, and it even looked like that initially, but as more time passes, a closer look at Blumie does not inspire one, regardless of the nice, freshly starched shirts and pants he wears in front of the Long Island Sound.
This may be the election cycle where money does not buy a vote.
An educated voter is a politicians worst enemy.
For the record: Blumenthal said he never received any calls asking him to oppose Obamacare. His staff failed to mentioned that I called AHEAD of the Federal vote to ask him to call down there in opposition to it. Something about infringement on individual and state's rights.
If he can't manage his people, he doesn't get my vote.
If the Young President means it's a no brainer for Linda McMahon, then I totally agree with him. OH, sorry Mr. President wrong again.
First, President Obama visits, then Speaker Pelosi. Who's next? Reid? Franks? Kerry? Durbin?……
Blumenthal's biggest problem is that he has no one here in this state to back him. We have a Republican Governor, a pseudo-independent senator, and five representatives who are, in some cases, back peddling on things like health care (i.e. Chris Murphy who happens to be on the Commerce and Energy Committee) and are afraid of their own seats.
I can't believe all of the political theater Blumie makes as he litigates because a "Big Business" may have overcharged "consumers" a few cents! But when I call his office and tell them that I'd like the State of Connecticut investigated because they're robbing me blind- they laugh! He's looking out for you, "The Consumer", my ass- if he gave a sh*t about you he'd look out for you as "The TAX-PAYER" too!!!!!!!!!

Where have you been-he has been all over the state for the many years he has served! I met him several times!
And, he has never missed a deployment or a return of our CT national guardsmen or a funeral for a fallen soldier.

I thought that term was a little hard on Connecticut Democrats, but, as you wish.
Chris-os – you know perfectly well what I meant, (although I could have written it better) which was avoiding one-on-one contact DURING THIS ELECTION CYCLE. Obviously, Mr. Blumenthal has been all over the state for years. The Dem playbook RIGHT NOW is to hide and not answer any substantive questions. He has mostly done that, but blundered horribly by asking Mr. Obama by, which will identify him with the policies of the current administration.
Also you shouldn't take that as a justification of Linda, who I agree has some baggage. The key is that baggage is the product of real-world business experience, not political apparatjik resume padding.

That "docile submissive disposition" is exactly the pose he would take for Reid (presuming he can get reelected). I just wonder if he would buy the "cottage" in Ireland next to Dodd's….
