Obama – “Health insurance … is your right”

No, it is not. A [human] right is one that exists simultaneously between people. In no way, may one of your “rights” diminish the rights of another person. Let me explain the brutal circle here.

Not one Republican lawmaker is cutting off your access to buy health insurance. This is a complete red herring propagated by the left. During the last few decades the federal government  – including both Democrats and Republicans – have implemented regulations and laws that have increased the cost of health care – and in-turn – health care insurance premiums. They are the ones – not health care insurance companies – who are directly responsible for a significant portion* of the cost increases in the health care arena.

Mandates cost money. But the all-knowing politicians out there – including President Obama – come out and bitch and moan about increased costs.

Then – instead of proposing solutions to high costs – they come out and say “health care is a right” and bitch and moan some more. They place the blame elsewhere and spout the progressive “it’s a right” phrase the populous sucks up. Of course it sounds so good doesn’t it?

Your brutal circle…

1. Create and implement solutions on a grand scale (over time) for a problem that does not exist on a grand scale.
2. Prices go up, blame someone else, claim health care is a “right.”
3. Create and implement MORE solutions (federal and state laws and regulations) to screw things up even more.
4. Claim health care “is a right” again, and again, and again…
5. Create and implement MORE government-mandated solutions as prices keep going up.

The final step to come … claim you tried your best to make the “capitalist, free market solution” work, but it just isn’t going to happen, so they will level the playing field and go for a 100 percent government-controlled solution. Of course, we have not had anything close to a free market solution in health care for decades, but that “will not be relevant” considering “where we are with this problem now.”

From Big Government today. Obama calling health care a “right” is something new for him, but not for the left.

During his weekly address on August 17, President Barack Obama declared that health insurance isn’t just a privilege–it’s a right.

The address, titled “Working to Implement the Affordable Care Act,” featured all the President’s well-worn talking points about Obamacare–with one new addition.

Obama touted the fact that people under 26 years old can stay on their parents’ insurance; he talked of the “free mammograms”; and he celebrated the access to “contraceptive care.” And then, in full demagogic mode, Obama went on to excoriate Republicans for trying to hurt “sick people” and the economy by opposing his Obamacare law.

President Obama on Saturday offered one of his strongest defenses to date of his signature domestic achievement, lambasting Republican critics of his health care law as obstructionists who are playing politics with the well-being and economic security of millions of Americans.

In blunt terms, Mr. Obama used his weekly address to describe health insurance as a “right” and distinguished states that have embraced his law against those that have not.

Again, health care can not be a “right.” Someone has to be paid to provide you with the care you need or request and you can not just walk into a clinic somewhere and demand to be taken care of by other people without compensation. If you do, the provider’s true human rights are being violated. Some would – I would – refer to that as slavery. Of course, liberals and the left are not suggesting the forced conscription of nurses, doctors and other health care providers. Instead, they will simply roll the entire health care economy in to the governments hands, absolutely killing innovation and advances in health care. Prices will continue to skyrocket, but they will be hidden in government-imposed taxes. That is what the left wants.

* Head back to the archives and read this post please. When I wrote that post, I did not specifically reference government mandates that increase costs to hospitals and health care providers. Those mandates are part of the equation, but are hidden on the provider side.
