Of course it’s not just a weapon, more specifically it was a rifle, and only a semi-automatic rifle at that. But that does not stop President Obama from deliberately misleading everyone who listens to him by stating a “fully automatic weapon” was used in during the Newtown shooting. That’s an outright lie.
The president does not care. It’s not about facts and reality, it’s about stigmatizing gun owners. From the official White House remarks, while speaking to his claim they have “more work to do” and with my emphasis.
Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon — by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.
This is fraud. The man tells people it was a semi-automatic weapon, and then corrects himself claiming it was a fully automatic weapon. Will Sargent Vance from the Connecticut State Police please send a messenger to the White House to correct the president?
These types of “mistakes” are not mistakes. The words are chosen carefully to ensure the low-information voter believe the lies. Hundreds of thousands of people over the next month – maybe millions – will have heard or read the president’s comments and take his word as truth. A few of you will actually email me and argue the point, claiming the “president said” it was a full auto weapon. In advance, I’m telling you folks you’re brain-dead.
Hell, there are a bunch of you supporting the Second Amendment who keep emailing me and telling me a semi-auto rifle was not used at Newtown and it’s all based on a cover-up. You base your “facts” on an incorrect NBC news video clip that remained published by NBC for months. Hell, they still may have it out there. You too, are brain-dead. Want to know why NBC left it up? To make you look like fools.
There can not be an honest discussion about gun control when a bunch of you and most of the gun-control crowd have your facts wrong, and when you are corrected, you either ignore the facts or say it really doesn’t matter. It matters.
But of course, we also have the legislators who are leading sponsors of gun control legislation who really are idiots when it comes to understanding firearms. Normally, the idiotic statements are reserved for state lawmakers, but in this case let me introduce you to Colorado’s Rep. Diana DeGette (D) who, when asked how a ban on so-called high-capacity magazines would be effective in reducing gun violence, claimed…
“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those know they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”
Her spokesperson came out the next day and claimed she was speaking about clips, not magazines but of course that’s wrong too since clips can be reused. DeGette is just an idiot who hates any and all gun owners. She knows nothing, she didn’t misspeak, she really thought magazines are one-time-use items, and she’s one of the people sponsoring federal legislation. This is unacceptable, and she should remove herself from the discussion.
DeGette and Obama are examples of leaders who are “informing” the voters, and the low-information voters will claim every word is truth.
