Obama closes Florida Bay

We keep hearing stories about national parks and national monuments being closed due to the government shut down.  But this closure may forever remain a mystery.

Florida Bay can be found between the southern tip of Florida and the Florida Keys.  Sadly, at the moment, it has the misfortune of being designated as part of the Everglades National Park.  No, Florida Bay  it is not what you think of as  “Everglades”.  It is not a shallow swamp filled with alligators.  Florida Bay is mostly open waters, and is known for its fishing grounds used by both charter fishing boats and weekend fishermen.  Well, at least it was.

Charter guides received a message from the National Park Service this week informing them that they are not permitted to take clients fishing in Florida Bay until the feds get back to work. That means that more than 1,100 square miles of prime fishing is off limits between the southern tip of the mainland to the Keys until further notice.

No word yet on what happens to the hapless weekend fisherman who simply strays into this now “off limits” area.

Obama will send a flotilla of gunboats to enforce the ban & drive off those Hemmingway fans.

How come there are so many park service employees still working? They seem non-essential when everything is open and essential with everything closed.

Lets not forget rivers, streams and lakes where fisherman and boaters were forcibly removed. Obama wants it to hurt?

Didn’t he say he was going to control the rise in the oceans

I love that Bay, and I love the restaurants in Islamorada where sport fisherman bring their excess fish to the restaurant, so it can be cooked and served. It is the freshest and best fish I have ever tasted. How dare that President Stompy Foot (hattip to Michelle ?Malkin) stop this delightful act of generosity or act of commerce. ?He and his entire administration is a bunch of petty, jealous, neanderthals without an ounce of intellectual curiosity. Honestly, in this country of exceptional people how did he even find so many cretins. Sorry for the rant, He is trying my patience.

Come on, Lynn…you’ve been with us for many years now.? You can feel free to say what you really think.

This from a park ranger executingh the “closure” of a parking lot at Mount Vernon:
?It?s a cheap way to deal with the situation,? an angry Park Service ranger in Washington says of the harassment. ?We?ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It?s disgusting.?
    ?
Straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak… exactly what the “Barry-cades” are all about.

    • Dimsdale on October 6, 2013 at 11:36 pm

They point fingers and b*tch about all the “pain” the PARTIAL (read it 17%) shutdown in causing everyone, and THEY are the ones causing it!? And they REFUSE to pass any bills from the House to alleviate any of the alleged difficulties.?
      ?
That means that THEY are responsible, particularly in closing things like the WWII veterans memorial and stopping chaplains from giving services to our fighting soldiers, but leaving open ?bama’s favorite golf course!
      ?
It is despicable and disgusting, but most of all, DEMOCRAT!

    • stinkfoot on October 7, 2013 at 12:11 am

Wouldn’t barring chaplains from giving services be a First Amendment violation of the Constitution??

    • Dimsdale on October 7, 2013 at 8:42 am

As if the big ?rifice cares!

I realize that our criminal in chief would just as soon wipe himself with the Constitution as though it were toilet paper but the folks in the military, who have sworn an oath to protect the constitution are the targets of ILLEGAL presidential petulance.
