Michael Walsh:Let the wild turkey jokes begin UPDATE: I didn’t want the wild turkey

Begin? What makes Mike think they will ever, ever end. In case you missed it, NY Post columnist and NRO The Corner contributor Michael Walsh was unable to join me in the studio today per usual. But to you NRO readers the story isn’t quite as simple as he would have you believe.

Sidelined by an early morning wild turkey vs car accident, he was forced to join the party later on by phone. So Michael decided to blog on this over at the Corner:

So I was on my way over to Farmington, Ct., this morning to join Jim Vicevich on his top-rated talk radio show on WTIC-AM when a suicidal wild turkey, obviously disconsolate over Governor Malloy’s punitive new taxes, threw itself in front of my car, busting up the bumper, knocking out a headlight, rupturing the coolant hose, and only the repair shop knows what else. Man, them birds is big!

Which meant, alas, I was not in the studio to welcome my NRO colleagues Jonah Goldberg and K-Lo …

All true but there is a bit more to it. I got the call at 8 am. “Jim, I hit a wild turkey and the car won’t run.” (insert Wild Turkey joke here. Hey, Jonah did.) At first I thought he just meant to say he couldn’t make it but deep down inside I think he was still trying to figure out a way to get to the studio.

Even better, in true Walsh fashion, after dropping off the car, Mike told the tow truck driver to take him home the same way so he could pick up the turkey keeping with the old Irish slogan “Never let Wild Turkey go to waste.” Unfortunately by the time he got there someone had already swiped the bird, in keeping with that other old Irish expression, he who leaves his wild turkey unguarded, will likely loose it.

And that, my friends, is the rest of the story. Go ahead and listen to the podcast here. Enjoy.

(Note: the podcast page is not working for some. Will try to fix it soon.)

UPDATE: Can’t blame this on the tremor, just on my sloppy journalism. Mike informs me he didn’t want the turkey, he just wanted to see what happened to it. OK, I stand corrected, and the turkey is still missing.

Mike asked me today if I would represent him in his law suit against the turkey for the damage to Mike's car.  I agreed.  But, now that I know that it was Mike who ran into the turkey (not the other way around), I am currently representing the turkey's next of kin.

ROFL SOS…that was some funny stuff in the chatroom yesterday, wasn't it?

I'm glad you're siding with the turkey's next of kin…no doubt motherless fowl after the hit and stun.

I was once standing next to a SC boy & we saw a bunny run into a downspout. He reached in,grabbed it,whacked it against the fence, slit it down the middle, pulled the guts out & the skin off &  said,"supper.
