Matthews to Inglis: Isn’t being educated a disadvantage for you as a conservative?

Ahh, the perfect Republicans for Chris Matthews. Congressman Bob Inglis, who was just defeated in the Republicans party, maybe a little bitter, maybe doesn’t understand what just happened to him and other Republicans, maybe can’t see a change coming. Whatever the reason, he’s more than willing to take a whack at the Tea Party and Matthews eggs him on.But it’s Matthews question that I want you take note of. Once again he shows his bias. Or is it just ignorance. Ironic huh. Matthews asks Inglis, isn’t being an educated man a disadvantage for Conservatives? Of course, Inglis takes it from there.

Just remember ignorance is bliss. Stay stupid leftieis and we’ll see you in November.

Matthews is biased? Come on! And the Conservatives are not? I am glad to know that all the wisdom of America is w/ the Conservatives. I am floored: the vast majority of Americans are stupid according to Jim.

    • Dimsdale on July 15, 2010 at 6:21 am

The vast majority of Americans are liberals?

    • chris-os on July 18, 2010 at 1:17 am

But Sammy, Fox is "fair and balanced".

What a condescending, pompous, boring pair of jerks.  Jim, why do you even bother putting Matthews up on your blog?  Why give him even the slightest sense of credibility?

    • Lynn on July 16, 2010 at 2:44 am

Because Mathews plays such blatant bigoted games. Palin is the perfect target for him. He makes her the definition of Conservatives. She doesn't care when he rips her to shreads, she just keeps on going, because she is confident in her accomplishments. She is not my favorite Conservative, but I will defend her accomplishments in Alaska. She threw out the corrupt Republicans, she rebuilt Alaska's economy etc. She is popular with thousands of Americans because she represents them. We are NOT all intellectuals! What is wrong with that? We are a diverse nation, that is the source of our strength.

Jim is brilliant enough to show Matthews as a BIGOT (Wikipedia definition- a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his own opinions and prejudices…requires intolerance, irrationality and animosity toward those differing beliefs) to our attention. He insults Palin because she doesn't READ! How does he know that, AND how about the Liberal Congressmen who admitted to NOT reading the massive Bills they are passing? Why doesn't he say that? Jim has just stirred us up, Go Jim!

"Death panels", "lock and load", "drill, baby drill", "pallin around with terrorists"…and this conservative leader elicits cheers when she throws this crazy talk out at every one of her $100,000 appearances.

Now, where the heck did Matthews get the idea that an intellectual looking for conservative votes is at a disadvantage?

    • Dimsdale on July 15, 2010 at 6:37 am

I think SOS destroyed your premise that there are no "death panels", unless you mean a specific entity titled "U.S. Death Panel".  If it walks like a duck….

As for the other colloquialisms, do the phrases "kick some ass", "hope and change", "no tax increase for anyone making less than $250K (depending on the speaker), "typical white woman", "all wee-wee'd up", "spread the wealth around", any number or requisite "y'all's"  etc.

Remember what Biden said about Øbama: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean that's a storybook, man."  Apparently, it is an articulation he can turn on and off at will to appeal to a specific audience (NPR, "Analyzing Obama's Speech and Cadence", http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?stor

But it is okay for him but not for Palin.   The problem is, Øbama is much more dangerous, and goes out of his way to prove it every day.

forgot “….ring a bell?” at the end of the second paragraph.

    • phil on July 15, 2010 at 10:30 am

Right. Palin is dumb.  Palin is ignorant.  Palin sold the Alaska governor's airplane because it cost too much to keep.  The Gliberal Dumbocraps let Fancy Nancy spend enough money on her cross-country traipses to build eight bridges and feed school breakfasts to every kindergarten kid this side of the Mississippi.  Yeah, Palin's dumb, you're smart, and I'm probably a right-wing radical racist.

  5. rickyrock on July 15, 2010 at 10:19 am

Sarah Palin ……………is the biggest fraud ….phony……money grubbing idiot the world has ever seen.I can't stand this woman.every time she speaks I want to vomit.Let's see why I feel this way and why millions of other sane Americans do also(A recent CBS poll find a majority of Americans 71% DO NOT WANT SARAH TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT…21% do want her to run ……terrible poll numbers.!!!Of Republicans, 56% do not want her to run while 30% do……..) This is after she quit her Governorship and after her ghost written book tour.

1.Death Panels ..there are no death panels …"walks like a duck" …."she's a goose" laying rotten eggs…According to politifact.org a truth finding organization :We have read all 1,000-plus pages of the Democratic bill and examined versions in various committees. There is no panel in any version of the health care bills in Congress that judges a person's "level of productivity in society" to determine whether they are "worthy" of health care.

Palin also may have also jumped to conclusions about the Obama administration's efforts to promote comparative effectiveness research. Such research has nothing to do with evaluating patients for "worthiness." Rather, comparative effectiveness research finds out which treatments work better than others.

2.Palins lied when she said that Obama refused help for the oil spill from foreign countries.

In a June 15 press release, the Deepwater Horizon Incident Joint Information Center (JIC) stated that “[c]urrently, 15 foreign-flagged vessels are involved in the largest response to an oil spill in U.S. history.” The JIC further explained, “No Jones Act waivers have been granted because none of these vessels have required such a waiver to conduct their operations in the Gulf of Mexico.” The press release further stated:

To debate is one thing…I sincerely respect all opinions ….however when these opinions are based on pure imaginative lies I will do all I can to get the "truth" out.

    • Dimsdale on July 15, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Your fear and loathing of Palin notwithstanding (frankly, I don't think she will run, just based on the polling if nothing else), re: the "death panels": have you read the latest post by SOS referring to a WSJ article on Berwick's quotes?  Have you read anything from SOS?

      Just looking for your input.

    • chris-os on July 17, 2010 at 2:36 am

Ricky, I thought Palin was fun, like a carichature of the right, even believing she wasn't real-like the show "Punked".

Then came that "death panel" statement that went viral with the extremists on the right.

People do not realize the damage that this nutjob caused with that lie. The health care bill had a provision that an MD would be compensated by insurance companies for "end of life counseling". It is rarely done in our health care system now.

The patients are shuffled in and out of office visits like "piece work" at a factory-the more patients you see daily, more money. MD's are not paid for the very important, very delicate , discussion of what a patient may want-what the options are -when they come to the point where there is no longer quality of life.

People may say that this is the family's responsibility, as it well may be. However, some families are uneducated, some do not want to frighten their elderly family member and some are in denial, unwilling to face the fact that their loved one will someday no longer be with them.

When there is the decision to resuscitate or not, keep the respirator on or not, etc…the family is consulted if the person has not made clear, in writing, what his or her wishes are. Talk to someone who has been faced with this moment. They will tell you it was one of the most traumatizing, horrendous times in their lives. Something that will haunt then until they themselves die.

Palin and her screeching flock was the cause of this important provision to be written out of the bill.

Palin does not care about you or your family. She continues to paint the picture of gramma being frog marched in front of a committee of ghouls that tell her she is too old to live, frightening the elderly-inscensing the uneducated-her goal.

Some tv commentators end clips showing of her daily facebook lunatic ravings with "that woman is an idiot". I don't think so anymore. I think she is, bottom line, calculating and despicable.

Confucius say, "Empty bucket make more noise than full one."  Matthews, to me, is like the big fat moron who blathers too loud on a crowded bus.  He's more or less an anatomically correct version of Rosie O'Donnel.  I can't believe they pay that p.o.s. $5,000,000!!!  Does he really spit that much while talking, or does he earn most of his $5 Mils off-camera doing personal favors for Keith Olberman?

  7. Anne-EH on July 15, 2010 at 4:06 pm

No wonder conservative talkradio, FoxNews, and conservative blogs/websites have taken off, because they are doing the job the lame stream news media, which also includes Chris Mathews will not do, deal with the issues. At least Sarah Palin has more common sense than the person we have in the White House RIGHT NOW!

  8. David R on July 15, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Has anybody here ever referenced a Conservative intellectual?  Why are they ignored by the Conservative writers on this blog? Good reading for moderates and Liberals too, even if you have fundementally different views. They, as do Liberal intellectuals, have reasoned positions that make uncommon sense, and offer more than simple solutions to complex problems.

    • Anne-EH on July 16, 2010 at 2:23 am

Your conservative bloggers are your conservative intellectuals today. Plus you have to remember that some liberal bloggers can get emotional in their writtings.

    • Dimsdale on July 16, 2010 at 3:39 am

Well, anything by renowned economist Thomas Sowell would be useful (http://townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell).   Professor (Economics) Walter Williams is a fount of information (http://townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWilliams).  Larry Elder, Booker T. Washington, Glenn Loury, Shelby Steele are others.

Ever notice that black conservatives have to transcend race, but black liberals wear it like a badge and use it like a tool?

    • JollyRoger on July 16, 2010 at 2:12 pm

      <!– end .comment-meta –>

Why would anyone reference a conservative intellectual while offsetting the balance on Chris Matthews (a not so intellectual)?   I wish there was some tangible aspect to the musings of Matthews or Obama, I might be able to fertilize my tomatoes!

      "<cite>David R</cite> says: <!– end .comment-author –>Has anybody here ever referenced a Conservative intellectual?"

    • chris-os on July 17, 2010 at 2:45 am

"Conservative intellectual". Isn't that an oxymoron?

      Just kidding, just kidding!!

  9. steve418r on July 15, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I have a lot of trouble listening to Chris Matthews as he spews out his love for Obama and the group of disconnected liberals whose only goal right now is to grow government until is swallows everything this country stands for. To imagine the current administration is a better choice than Sarah Palin is like deciding the other movie would have been a better choice when the credits are running. We, as a nation, have chosen the politicians in office now. We must focus on finding a replacement that will return personal responsibility to the people. We as a nation wallow in self indulgence and then complain when our health fails. The government wants to convince us they need to save us from ourselves. We are a free country and we should be accountable for our own actions.

      REMEMBER this NOVEMBER!

Plus Chris Mathews is great for a few laughs. :)=^..^=

    • Lynn on July 16, 2010 at 6:41 am

Thank you. You get it. We waste our country's most valuable right. The right to vote. We, are the Government. It cannot do anything without our vote. As our Conservative Women Forum blog says everyday, "Countdown! Aug. 10 is the Primary. Are you doing everything you can to take this gov't back? What are you doing for your candidates?

    • rickyrock on July 16, 2010 at 8:56 am

Dear Steve and et.al.  I'm not a big fan of Chris Mathews …..he doesn't seem too bright to me and he substitutes bullying for brains….However please don't avoid some basic historical facts :(these are facts not some left wing revisionist crap).

1.Under Ronald Reagan the top marginal tax rates were lowered from 70% to 50% and later to 28% for the wealthiest Americans……..the national debt grew from 700 billion to  three trillion …..government employees grew by 13% !!!, taxes were raised 7 times………..so don't lay all this government growth on one side of the aisle.

2.Sarah Palin cost John McCain the election…this woman is not electable..and has the most idiotic general misstatements I've ever heard in my life.I can't believe people as bright as you and those that visit this site can't or won't see that.Making general statements without specifics is inane….many of the statements are not factual, it's like talking to someone in a bar after they had a few …If she ever went up against a Hillary Clinton or an experienced political foe she would be cut to pieces…..

If any of my facts are wrong about Reagan or Palin (facts)  ……please tell me …………I will be the first to admit my error…

    • djt on July 16, 2010 at 1:59 pm

ricky, while what you say is likely true, its also true that during the reagan years, gov't took in $$ at a historic rate not because of tax increases, but because of economic growth. Trickle down/supply side, actually worked as it should have in that respect. The reason the deficits skyrocketed was because of spending, much of it that reagan should have vetoed, but a lot of it was on defense, all of which helped to end the cold war.He went along with a lot of needless spending to get the defense $$ he wanted. In retrospect, it seems to be a wise move.

on another point regarding Matthews…why is anyone, especially Jim Vicevich, continually surprised that he's biased? Matthews doesn't try to hide it, his network is awash in the liberal point of view, where's the shock? He's a commentator, not a newsman, asking opinions with an agenda or point of view built into them is what he does.

    • Dimsdale on July 17, 2010 at 8:12 am

Remember how much fun it was prior to Reagan?  I remember the Carter years, with record interest rates and the infamous malaise factor.  The top tax rate cut was the best thing that ever happened to the economy.  Now if only Congress could be persuaded not to spend the windfall….

  10. rickyrock on July 17, 2010 at 12:24 pm

You are 100 % correct about Carter…….terrible president ……paradoxically smart and stupid at the same time.

Let's not forget George w Bush….in 8 years he took 977 days off!!! about a third of his time in office….

Let's not forget 9/11 the biggest domestic calamity in US history…happened on his watch or lack there of   (there are many facts regarding a forewarning of possible terrorist activity, especially regarding the suspicious attendance of foreign mid easterners attending flight school….)

Terrible legacy of oil company affiliation ….big business friendly butt kissing………and the bailout "this sucker could go down."

    • Dimsdale on July 17, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Yep, Carter was bad, but Øbama is fast pushing him out of the record books.

C'mon!  The vacation thing is old stuff.  Presidents don't really get vacations, and I know Bush's were primarily working vacation.  Neither do I begrudge Øbama his vacations.  Again, see me in 6.5 years if Øbama gets elected.

Oh!  A "truther" in our midst!  'nuff said about that.

We have hashed out the BP support for Øbama.  Maybe now we should look into the instances of money and support from foreign sources….

Howsabout we get back to the topic of this thread?

  11. Dimsdale on July 19, 2010 at 4:10 am

I think it would be fair to say that Matthews has his B.S. in BS.

  12. rickyrock on July 19, 2010 at 11:11 am

What  BP support of Obama ???? the fact that he got 71,000 instead of 36,000 Bp thought he would win so they gave him more………..nearly double ……….so what ??? They gave over 6.1 million to Repubs and Dems…….

Let's not forget Obama birth certificate……reduction of nuclear arms ……(started 20 years ago) and the oil leak which he caused …(so he could take over the oil industry) …….. In this particular instance you can't blame Chris Mathews …..it gets dumber and dumber ………..
