Make Everyone Equally Poor – Update – Rush
The graphic at the beginning of this clip is stunning. Obama’s tax proposals will tax the wealthy one trillion new dollars over a ten year period. So Brit Hume and Juan Williams duke it out over the merits of this kind of taxation … with Brit asking the relevant question I think.

I am all about the responsibility, in a society such as ours, for those who have, to pay a fair share to fund the government. But when government runs its programs without regard for cost and continues to lean on one segment of the population, the earners, eventually you either discourage earners, or drive them underground. Either way, to discourage wealth is to discourage economic growth and i becomes counterproductive.
Update: Here’s what Rush Limbaugh had to say about this at CPAC. It is a very good clip and the most watched of his clips that I have posted.

Methinks a more accurate assessment would be "make everyone equally miserable," except, naturally, the limousine liberal elites, which is all of them.
Maybe we should schedule school field trips to Cuba for remedial instruction in the faults of socialism/communism. Maybe some for Congresscritters too.
Not to worry: the rich will keep on staying rich (or getting richer). Not many formerly rich people come to mind. As for limos, Rush famously said some time ago:" It's hard to see poor people from the back seat of a limo".
No doubt he was saying that about liberals! Do you have a source for that quote? I can't find it via Google…
Our fine Democrat "leaders" who never seem to want for a limousine or extra large sized SUV, usually left idling when attending AGW summits. Remember Animal Farm's "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others?"
And then there are the rich that keep getting richer by a) not paying their taxes, b) minimally giving to charity (unless running for office), and c) manipulating the Gordian knot of the current "progressive" tax system to their advantage.
Isn't it amusing how the people that fall into those categories are consistently liberals?
As I said, Dimsdale, not to worry. Certainly you do not expect Rush to get poorer, do you? And he was talking about himself in the limo and not being able to see the poor: heard it with my own ears from his very lips.
And his hand-picked candidate was Sarah Palin (and poor McCain had to capitulate, although he wanted Lieberman), and she did not do too well.
Glad to hear how to get rich, thought only hard work and great work ethic would get you there, not taking advantage of the system, which naturally only the Liberals do (why would Conservatives not take advantage of the system? Too ethical? Or…..)
Oh, I am sure that he took a hit just like the rest of us, unless he keeps his money in his mattress, which he can very well afford to do. Nobody that had any investments escaped this debacle. I am sure that even John Kerry's sugar momma took a hit.
I still want to see the transcript: memories vary and context is everything. I listen frequently, and "using the absurd to demonstrate the absurd" is one of his trademark techniques. I am sure that some indignant liberal group posted it somewhere. You could not have been the only one to hear it.
Rush did not "hand pick" Palin. Sorry. That is purest fantasy on your part. McCain and Limbaugh do not get along at all.
Why didn't conservatives "take advantage of the system?" Two reasons: they just aren't that devious (or smart if you like), and they are actually condemned by other conservative when they do (imagine that!). Liberals are promoted (see Dodd). Or the other way around: conservatives are so very good that they don't get caught, and liberals aren't. Fact is, there are far more very wealthy Democrats than there are Republicans.
Now why would that be?

If Davis would like to see what Palin is doing, he can visit the state of Alaska site and read about her budget. It's on line for all to read. She has cut taxes and reduced spending. She refused to take the pay raise she was offered. Also, remember, she did sell the state jet for $2,000,000,000 – that is million – and also saves @ $75,000 each year since she doesn't need a pilot or gas, or plane maintenance. Plus she let the chef at the Governor's mansion go – after finding him a job elsewhere. She has saved oodles by living at her own home – the state pays her$45 per day per diem and saves a bundle by not using the services at ther masion which are more expensive than the per diem. She was told she needed to pay $6,000 air fare for her kids since someone said their trips were not necessary. She paid. There was some doubt that she had to. If she had kept the jet, then they could go with her for "free." just the way Nancy Perlosi's husband went with her to Italy on a Air Forece jet. Plus – it costs @ 1, 000,000,000 (Million) for Obama to travel to Denver – and AZ to sign bills that he could have signed at the Capitol for nothing. I think that 2 million could have been put to better use but what can you expect from someone who spent over 4 million for the columns behind him at his convention. The man has no concept of money – he's a lawyer.

No, it is not simple numbers, just a simple explanation: it was that way when the Republicans were in the majority too.
And I am fully aware of the fact that you were referring to her VP run. From what I have seen so far, she clearly outclasses Biden, particularly politically.

Like her or not, Palin has hands on experience in running an administration, something sorely lacking (and it is showing) in both Obama and Biden. Seriously, if she is so irrelevant, why did you even bring her up? Read the above entries. But you guys just keep on trying to tear her down. Lotsa luck with that… Fear is an ugly motivator.
You never seem to be able to answer my retorts, preferring to bring up yet another and another alleged point. Is this a devil's advocate stance, or just the way you operate? Just for future reference….
My original response was to the tag line on the blog entry. There isn't much that of what I say that is liked. At least I have sided several times with Erik.
I am not tearing Gov. Palin down. She speaks for herself, but she does not resonate with me. I do not consider myself to be part of the "you guys" group alluded to above.
