Law-abiding citizen with gun stops mass stabbing attack in Utah

But why do you feel the need to carry a gun? A self-defense weapon can be a great equalizer for both women and men who are being attacked with a pipe, baseball bat or a sharp knife. Of course, this story happened in April and it’s just getting national attention now on Drudge Report.

Some would say they would have liked to see the person carrying a self-defense weapon shoot the guy, but quite honestly if that did happen, the armed citizen might have some terrible nightmares after the shooting. Do you know what’s it’s like to shoot someone? I don’t want to know. The man also showed great restraint.

From ABC 4 in Salt Lake City.

A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith’s store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith’s employee Dorothy Espinoza says, “He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people.”

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. “There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms.”

Then, before the suspect could find another victim – a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. “A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith’s grabbed him.”

This citizen didn’t run. He didn’t hide. He did something and stopped an attack without firing a shot and may have certainly saved people’s lives.

What drives me a bit crazy is the talking head reporter referred to this hero as “another man who played cop.”

The MSM is going to play the facts in a way that is convenient for the criminals currently in power who clearly are intent on taking away the constitution.? Of course they are going to make derogatory insinuations about a citizen who doesn’t fit into the desired pathetic sheep mold and has the guts to stand up to a knife wielding thug.? How dare he not dutifully be a helpless victim who demands a government solution to every problem.? A national spotlight ought to be shone on the subhuman piece of excrement who would characterize someone acting with such bravery as “playing cop”.? Perhaps the talking head? ought to stop playing reporter.

Knives don’t kill people…crazy people kill people.? I mean really… you can turn most anything into a weapon if you really are intent on doing so. You can kill someone with a rock to the head.? Should we outlaw carrying rocks in public???? Time to focus on the real problem….the need for better mental health evaluations and, where necessary, confinements for proper assessment for a threat to one’s self or others.? I applaud the heads-up self control this legal, gun-carrying citizen exhibited.? He no doubt saved people from life threatening injury or worse.? We need more responsible citizens like this.? Keep highlighting them whenever / where ever found.

I think we need a good Samaritan law which protects law abiding gun owners who act in defense of others- their judgement shouldn’t be inhibited with fears of media sniping and accusations of playing hero. ?

And the legal gun owner did the right thing in meeting or just exceeding the threat he was confronted with – and no more.?
Reporting proper gun use is not the MSM’s forte.? We are never told for sure whether the shooting “victim” was a true victim or the perpetrator that was stopped by a legal gun owner.

Many years ago I happened to notice a guy packing at a church function in a nice suburb & asked him,” why?”. He said,”I feel it’s my duty to protect those who can’t protect themselves”. I was working in a scary area & went about doing the same. The boss didn’t like it but the girls in the office loved it.
