To be fair. Connecticut’s junior Senator begins the bite with praise for the law enforcement people who nabbed this jihadist before he got away, and in record time. But Joe calls it like he see it, and in this case, to paraphrase Liz Cheney, luck ain’t a terror policy.

In terms of prevention: stop focusing on Tea Partiers as being potential candidates for anything sinister happening in this country and instead focus on dudes like Shahzad. This had nothing to do with someone being disgruntled with health care reform, and everything to do with someone of mid-Eastern descent with active ties to Pakistan who hates Americans. I don't care how politically incorrect that sounds; Jim, if you or I grabbed our little passports and left for Pakistan for months on end, would that raise a red flag? The whole thing is just infuriating…If we don't start getting smart (as in Israel-smart), I worry about what is to come in the future….a LOT.
I agree: the Øbama administration seems to use all of its resources trying to insinuate "Christian militiamen", Tea Party members and new veterans are the next big threat to America, while playing dodge ball with real terrorists from Muslim countries.
One us forced to speculate that this was more planned than luck. Consider the possibility that Shahzad had to be either the world's worst terrorist or the whole thing was planned to happen exactly as it happened. He effectively gave the cops a road map of clues and when they barely caught up with him, he calmly asked "What took you so long?" Now he is "singing" like a canary to the authorities. Does the word "disinformation" mean anything?
Terrorism, is, by definition, putting terror into the minds of potential victims. A bomb does not have to go off to make people realize that one could. It is a win-win situation for the terrorist. We don't hear about bombing attempts that are intercepted. It is not beyond the bounds of possibilities that the Taliban simply wanted to show that they could have bombed Times Square with ease. And that has to cause a lot of New Yorkers (and other Americans) a lot of unease.
