Jim Vicevich health update – Sound Off Connecticut schedule, and thank you! Update tomorrow!

UPDATE (Jim): I am putting this at the top but I should have some definitive information on health and return tomorrow, with final word coming Wednesday. Thank you all for your prayers. They are working. Check back tomorrow evening. And God Bless you all.

Update: Jim returns to the air on Monday, Jan. 25.

In this post you’ll find and update on Jim’s condition as we are able to post it. WTIC and CBS Radio have been very supportive, and let him know he is an important part of the team and they want him to come back healthy. We will keep this post updated and “bump” it up to the top position as necessary.

Scroll down for updates. Jim and I (Steve) will be updating this post during the next few days to avoid having multiple posts that may confuse listeners and readers. We may occasionally change the published date on this post to “force” it up to the top of the Featured or News, Media and Other Events category. That should provide those of you who are registered for our RSS feed to see the post has been updated.

From the iPhone so I will make this quick. By now many of you have figured out this has been more than taking a couple days off for my health. My disease flared suddenly and pretty brutally and early yesterday morning I was admitted to the hospital. Under great care. The attending physician is a good friend of mine.

Bottom line here is I won’t be back on air for a bit longer. Don’t have the strength to assemble the show or the acuity to run it either.

A couple points. I want to thank Steve for keeping the blog going. He’s the point person on my illness so if you questions he probably has the answers. We have talked each night I’ve been here. I also want to thank the SOS for her continued blogging on health care and the law. It finally gives the substance.

I do want to thank you for the e-mails. They meant so much to me and I and my Docs agree they seem to be helping me heal. So thank you, and I will keep you all in touch.

Jan. 11
Jim was released from the hospital earlier today after consulting with physicians. He’s back home, resting and feeling better after a full three days at the hospital. Since this is pretty public for Jim, he wants everyone to know how serious his situation was during last week. It’s important for listeners and readers to know the autoimmune disease Jim has – most likely Lupus – is very serious and there is no cure, but it can be managed and that is the next step for Jim and his doctors to work out. Unfortunately, this was not a “take a few days off and rest up” type of situation.

Jim has spoke with the management of WTIC and CBS Radio and they have been very supportive. Jim will be taking a leave of absence he hopes will be short, but his physicians have basically demanded he take time off and put his efforts into getting well under their direct care.

Ray Dunaway has been a great friend to Jim and very supportive. He’s been on the air the past few weekdays – when he can – to substitute for Jim. From what we understand, the tentative plan is to have Ray fill in for Jim from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET, and have a playback from Sean Hannity’s show between 10 a.m. and noon ET. Details should be released on the WTIC site soon.

One other thing. We understand that many listeners are asking WTIC management what will happen to the show. For now, everyone is taking it day-by-day. Instead of contacting them, your best bet will be to check WTIC or this site for updates. When there is information to be released, it will be released online.

You can continue to send e-mails to Jim through our Contact Us page.

Jim, I've been listening to you for about 6 months.  Thanks to you I now have the facts about our government and don't have to search around for someone who can simply tell the truth.  Love SOS and thank you for all your efforts.   Autoimmune disorders can be a battle.  May I ask what what you are fighting?  I'm sure you are getting the best of care.  Blessings to you, Diana

Just remember Sonya, when you are feeling at your worst. Hers is a spirit that won't give up. You are in our thoughts and prayer's, and a candle burns for you in our parish.

If will-power and the effort you put into your show  alone could make you well, you'ld be back in a flash. But we all know that it takes more than that. We are swimming around in a sea of murky waters without you; so hurry back.

Jim – As a long time listener I feel you are a friend.   Like so many others I pray that you will get better.   I am happy for the support you are receiving from Ray and the station.   Take care and may your major concern be regaining your health – we will be waiting for your return to the radio – once you are well enough.   God bless and help you.

Jim,  I have had a 13yrs journey w/ Crohn's Disease.  Those of us who have auto-immune disease we are surviors!  It just got me ready for a battle w/ luekemia, yes, a 3 yr bone marrow transplant survior!  Remember, you have a chronic condition, don't use the word disease, it mentally beats you down to think that you are sick.  Yes, it is managable, become a pain in it's ass not in yours.  May God Bless & keep you and May God help you recover quickly!
