Not Surprising: Jackson Lee and Schakowsky won’t condem what Bill Maher said about Sarah Palin

The video speaks for itself. Feigned outrage. Liberal talk show hosts can call conservative women sluts, c&^ts, whores and t$#ts all they want, while contributing millions to the campaigns of Democrats and super PACs at the same time. No fallout, they paid their dues.

Does this make the words Rush Limbaugh used acceptable? Not at all, it just shows the clear hypocrisy on the left. The “war against women” is really the war against conservative women. Here we have the refusal of Reps.Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) to even comment about what Bill Maher said.

Maybe Maher is different because he’s on cable and has “no sponsors”? [rolleyes] Claim that all you want, but they won’t repudiate Maher simply because he’s a media representative for the statist left, and a willing attack dog for them. The icing on the cake is Maher’s $1 million donation to the Obama Super PAC.

The video is courtesy Frank Strategies on YouTube. Hat tip to Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit. My favorite part? Schakowsky saying “Oh, do you know what? I’m supposed to be over at the intelligence committee meeting.”

Update: President Obama’s political guru David Axelrod attacked Romney and others for not repudiating Limbaugh, but has no problem heading over to Maher’s show and being a guest in the coming weeks.

Democrats don’t care about women, per se; they only care about women’s votes.? This proves that.

  2. Tim-in-Alabama on March 8, 2012 at 8:21 am

It’s obvious the Tea Bagger trying to intimidate these women doesn’t want people to have access to birth control and sex changes and clean energy.

    • Steve M on March 9, 2012 at 8:41 am

That language is not necessary, and adds little value.

  3. winnie on March 8, 2012 at 8:29 am

Not speaking out about misogyny IS making a statement.? It’s approval through silence.? Bill Maher is a liberal puke who says whatever he pleases with NO apologies and NO consequences and then follows it up with a million dollar check to the Obama PAC.? That makes Obama guilty of misogyny by association because he accepted said check.? To use language that a liberal will understand:? “It isn’t *faaaaair* that Schakowsky won’t demonize Maher the way she did Rush.”
    Just sayin’sall.

  4. crystal4 on March 8, 2012 at 8:38 am

Wondering how long it would be to put forth the new rightie defense of Rush.
Maher is a COMEDIAN he called Palin and Bachmann the “c” word. They are PUBLIC FIGURES. (I think his comedy goes too far, I hate that word).
Fluke is a private citizen, a student. Rush called her slut, prostitute, ‘I want sex tapes, etc” for 3 DAYS, 9 HOURS!
How anyone with a mother, sister, wife, daughter can defend him is beyond me.
As the president said, he had to speak out because he wanted his daughters to grow up and not to feel intimidated to speak their mind in a democratic forum. Seems like many want to stifle democracy by condoning humiliation and the intimidation of those who are brave enough to speak their views on an issue.

    • winnie on March 8, 2012 at 8:50 am

Sandra Fluke made herself a public figure by testifying in front of congress.? Anyone who puts themselves out there at a microphone automatically becomes a public figure, especially with NEWS coverage of their little soiree…
And as far as I’m concerned, Rush has a little comedian in him, too.? Besides, the left always calls him nothing more than an “entertainer”.? Are you now saying he’s a serious news broadcaster?
And you’ll see very few people here defending Rush’s use of the word “slut”…most of us agree that he went too far.? But where’s the outrage for Maher’s use of the worst possible word you can call a woman?? Oh, that’s right…he directed it toward Palin, so that makes it okay.
Can’t have it both ways, crystal.

    • crystal4 on March 8, 2012 at 9:13 am

Wow! Cool! I’ve spoken out at town Council meetings so now I am a public figure!!! My parents will be so proud!
I have to go now and call the mayor and have him change the meeting agenda. The first item is always “Audience of private citizens”. I have to tell him to change it to “Audience of “public figures”!!!! Thanks!.

    • Dave in EH on March 8, 2012 at 10:43 am

“Maher is a COMEDIAN he called Palin and Bachmann the ?c? word. They are PUBLIC FIGURES.”

And Ms. FLuke made herself a public figure when she offered herself up as the face of the liberal’s war on the Roman Catholic Church.

“How anyone with a mother, sister, wife, daughter can defend him is beyond me.”

Pointing out the?obvious hypocrisy of the left is not a defense of Rush.? At worst, it pointing out that the Emperor’s new clothes aren’t what they’re cracked up to be.???
      ?????

    • winnie on March 8, 2012 at 10:53 am

Wow, crystal…way to avoid my points.? It’s one thing to speak in front of your town council as a “private citizen” and quite another to be used by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, turned into a useful idiot and parade yourself in front of congress and try to affect federal policy and force your liberal agenda on the CATHOLIC church.? But if you’d like to split hairs and throw yourself a party for speaking in front of your town council, I’ll send you the flippin’ confetti. That was a fantastically cogent argument you offered up.

    • AthensArcher on March 8, 2012 at 8:54 am

Just so I understand, “Does this make the words Rush Limbaugh used acceptable? Not at all…” is a defense of Rush. Got it. I thought all liberals thought Limbaugh was an “entertainer” just like Maher? Palin was a “public figure” for certain, and Fluke is a public figure as well, she’s a “I’ll speak to the press” feminist activist. Has been for years. She’s not some co-ed Pelosi found in the quad.

    • Dimsdale on March 8, 2012 at 10:01 am

Clearly, the liberal defense of the lefty misogynists didn’t take long…
      ?
Apparently, by her own definitions, crystal approves of Maher’s and Schultz’s speech against women.

    • crystal4 on March 8, 2012 at 10:28 am

Once again you chose to ignore everything I wrote. But, then again, it’s the way of “dittoheads” to selectively clip statements.
      ?

    • Steve M on March 8, 2012 at 10:44 am

And you chose to ignore what I wrote … “Does this make the words Rush Limbaugh used acceptable? Not at all”

    • Dimsdale on March 8, 2012 at 3:55 pm

I reread your post: you stated that you “hated the word” but did not condemn Maher.
      ?
      So what did I ignore?

    • Lynn on March 8, 2012 at 12:52 pm

First of all, I am not a dittohead. I have never cared for Rush Limbaugh or his humor. Ditto, I have never cared for Bill Maher and his humor.? Second, I have not only spoken out at Town Meetings, serving and speaking as a BOE member for 2 years and at Town Halls, But I have also spoken out at the General Assembly in CT. I am not a public figure (you can google me to check)? Third, who could possibly ignore what you write? It usually provides me with hours of mirth. But I would never call you the c word or the s word, but I will say you have a double standard. But you are in “Double Bubble” company, Representatives Lee and Shakowsky show a shocking case of double standards.

    • JollyRoger on March 8, 2012 at 8:49 pm

I hand over almost half of my annual wages to the government, effectively working for the government, yet I receive no benefits and no big fat pension.? And when I stand with Tea Party people near an AFL CIO rally, the union folks were nasty and foul mouthed.? Then they walked around capital building stomping through flower beds while screaming, “Tax the Rich!”? I’m tired of hearing crybaby issues about the “slut” word when the left uses it so often and when I’m called all sorts of names by union roustabouts who work less than me and tell me to shut up and keep working.

  5. Lucinda on March 8, 2012 at 9:52 am

The silence of these two congresswomen speaks volumes.
    ?

  6. Jeff S on March 8, 2012 at 10:10 am

I guess, much like Herman Cain,?Rep Allen West and JC Watts, it doesn’t matter what you say but it’s what you stand for.? If you’re the “right” side, then anything said about you?is nothing short of blasphemy but if you’re a conservative (wrong side) then it’s open season.? The only thing positive is that I think the country as a whole is starting to see through this.
    ?
Remember super PACS are bad, unless they are for “the one” then they are good.? Plus zero needs the money.

  7. sammy22 on March 8, 2012 at 12:06 pm

I find it amazing to see how many ways conservatives believe they are victimized, e.g. “The ?war against women? is really the war against conservative women”. I was not aware there was another war going on.

    • Lynn on March 8, 2012 at 1:05 pm

Sammy, You bring up a good point. I find it amusing that MSM uses the term War on Women constantly. I carefully read Steve’s post he never mentioned any war. Frankly it is media hyperbole.? I think all conservatives are saying, that there is a double standard about? PUBLIC FIGURES using derogatory terms about women. The Liberals are never asked to apologize and the Conservatives are always asked to apologize. As I have said before, everyone can say anything they want about anybody but they should suffer FAIR/EQUAL consequences.? Isn’t that what President Obama wants Fair/Equal suffering?

  8. Truthseeker on March 8, 2012 at 12:19 pm

Anyone who demeans any American of any gender the way that Maher and Limbaugh have, are?promoting hatred and anger rather than the civil and intelligent?discourse needed to solve?our Country’s problems.?? Please, will someone in the media start brocasting?documented facts regarding the failure of our government to provide “government of the people, by the people, and for the people?”? But I suppose that would not sell near as well as half truths, lies and spin intended to outrage.? Don’t forget……United we stand, divided we fall.?

  9. Lynn on March 8, 2012 at 1:15 pm

Now, as for my true outrage. It is NOT about derogatory terms that stupid public figures use to describe women, men, aliens (from space), immigrants, elephants, asses or any other being. It is the term WAR on Women. It is absolutely disgraceful for the media to minimize the pain and suffering of our troops and their families. Their pain, suffering, death, disfigurements are from REAL War. To all media, STOP the HYPE! How about asking for solutions for REAL problems not stirring up hatred between people. Steve, I know I shouldn’t get off topic, but I am not sorry.

  10. sammy22 on March 8, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Lynn, I copied and pasted the sentence about “war against women”….. from Steve’s post above. Check it out.

    • Lynn on March 8, 2012 at 2:48 pm

Sammy, so glad you asked me about this. It was in quotes, to me that means he doesn’t think it is a real war either. He is using the term the MSM ( different from blogs) uses to describe this continual double-standard disparagement of women. That being, BTW, the true point of his post. Also want to stress, Steve has more than proved his respect for our troops. MSM not so much!

    • Dimsdale on March 9, 2012 at 8:20 am

The use of quotes indicate that he is not using the term himself, but making reference to it.

  11. rjace52 on March 8, 2012 at 2:05 pm

Why should anybody be surprised by this hypocrisy? Typical liberal reaction.

  12. socialenemy on March 8, 2012 at 2:12 pm

I’m gonna go ahead and just re post what Winnie said because the resident liberals in the room have yet to answer a single point she made or question asked.

Sandra Fluke made herself a public figure by testifying in front of congress.? Anyone who puts themselves out there at a microphone automatically becomes a public figure, especially with NEWS coverage of their little soiree?
And as far as I?m concerned, Rush has a little comedian in him, too.? Besides, the left always calls him nothing more than an ?entertainer?.? Are you now saying he?s a serious news broadcaster?
And you?ll see very few people here defending Rush?s use of the word ?slut??most of us agree that he went too far.? But where?s the outrage for Maher?s use of the worst possible word you can call a woman?? Oh, that?s right?he directed it toward Palin, so that makes it okay.
Can?t have it both ways, crystal.”

As for Rush, as the libs always say he’s an entertainer, first and foremost he’s shotting for ratings to get sponsers to get money. Someone once said Controversy Creates Cash. Is what he said allright? I don’t know, is the constant destruction of Sarah Palin on nearly a weekly basis on Saturday Night Live or the Daily Show from 08…

    • Lynn on March 8, 2012 at 2:52 pm

OK Socialenemy and Winnie, I agree this bears repeating over again. Thanks.

    • winnie on March 8, 2012 at 5:53 pm

Thanks, enemy….at least someone thought I made good points. lol
But in the end, it doesn’t matter how many time you ask a question “they” don’t want to answer because they’re like Shakowsky—smirks on face with a double standard.

    • crystal4 on March 9, 2012 at 7:12 am

The reason they have testimony from private citizens is just that…the people who live in congressworld in DC become out of touch with what is happening in American society today. The statement that if you go to DC to testify you immediately become a public figure and are fair game for the Limbaughs and O’Reilly’s is moronic. If she was one of the conservatives the Rebublicans admit to testimony on this bill there would be a post here lauding her as a heroine. Because she decried the hideous Blunt/Rubio amendment, all of you feel she deserves being slandered for 3 days. despicable.
BTW, the R’s vowed to resubmit this bill after it was defeated. They dropped that idea after the outcry from their constituents and some R’s are making statements that they regret voting yea for it.

    • Steve M on March 9, 2012 at 7:33 am

Sorry, but if you you keep writing crap like “all of you feel she deserves being slandered for 3 days,” you’ll be asked to leave. You can’t lie and slander people like that. I’d strongly suggest you walk that statement way back and rethink your approach.

    • Dimsdale on March 9, 2012 at 8:27 am

I keep looking, but I don’t see a single place where crystal came out against the outrageous attacks on Sarah Palin.
      ?
Perhaps you could point me to them……

  13. crystal4 on March 9, 2012 at 7:59 am

How many people said she was now a “PUBLIC FIGURE” how many???? And now Rush is a “COMEDIAN”…..

    • Steve M on March 9, 2012 at 8:10 am

Please, tell me you understand stating or suggesting a person is a “public figure” equals “she deserves to be slandered for 3 days.” And I’m serious, you’ve got one shot to correct this.

    • crystal4 on March 9, 2012 at 8:58 am

You are making me state the obvious:”she is a public figure” is N OT a defense of Rush?????
And this is not a threat to any PRIVATE CITIZEN who dares to testify in congress?
      ?

    • Steve M on March 9, 2012 at 9:36 am

Very well then. Since you specifically stated “all of you feel she deserves being slandered for 3 days” which is a complete lie. I’m politely asking you to never post on this site again. In other words, you’ve been banned. You’ll get this same notice via email. I gave you an opportunity to walk that back, yet you continue to state unequivocally that a suggestion or statement that “she is a public figure” really means those people are defending Rush, when over-and-over people have made the distinction.

      Good bye.

    • Dimsdale on March 9, 2012 at 8:24 am

I do believe that relegating Rush to the level of “entertainer” was the goal of the left.
      From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_figure):
A fairly high threshold of public activity is necessary to elevate people to public figure status. Typically, they must either be:

a public figure, either a public official or any other person pervasively involved in public affairs, or
a limited purpose public figure, meaning those who have “thrust themselves to the forefront of particular public controversies in order to influence the resolution of the issues involved.” A “particularized determination” is required to decide whether a person is a limited purpose public figure, which can be variously interpreted.

      According to attorney Aaron Larson:[2]

A person can become an “involuntary public figure” as the result of publicity, even though that person did not want or invite the public attention. For example,…
