Iraq News

Michael Yon, former Army Special Forces, (which has come in handy on occassion if you read his blog) turned “boots on the ground” journalist, has this op ed in the Wall Street Journal. Trust me, he knows his stuff more than anyone other than the General. (via HotAir).

I may well have spent more time embedded with combat units in Iraq than any other journalist alive. I have seen this war – and our part in it – at its brutal worst. And I say the transformation over the last 14 months is little short of miraculous.

Then, thumbing through my NY Times this morning here’s an article that kinda jumped out at me.

The struggle for control of Sadr City is more than a test of wills with renegade Shiite militias. It has also become a testing ground for the Iraqi military, which has been thrust into the lead.
