I’m doing a triathlon – how about a donation for the American Cancer Society?

This year, the Niantic Bay Triathlon has joined with the American Cancer Society to raise funds in the fight against cancer. They make everything pretty easy for participants – like me – to support the cause, so let’s see if we can raise some funds shall we?
Update: Thank you! Completed the triathlon in Niantic on Aug. 8 in 1 hour and 36 minutes, and we raised about $1,400 for the American Cancer Society!

This year, I’m planning to complete my first sprint-distance triathlon. I’ve been training a bit, doing mini-sprint triathlons every two weeks, and I think I’m ready for the adventure of swimming 1/2 mile, riding a bike for 12 miles, and finishing off by running 3.5 miles … all in less than 1 hour and 40 minutes hopefully.

Sound hard? They way I figure it, that’s nothing compared to what those fighting cancer are going through.

In response to a challenge to raise $300, I went with a $325 goal. With the help of friends and family ended up meeting that target last week, but I figured I’d ask the RVO readers if they could chip in $1, $5, $10 or more to the American Cancer Society. If everyone who gets our daily e-mail chips in $5, that would raise more than $5,000.

Even if you can donate only a few dollars, your efforts are appreciated.

It’s pretty easy and safe to donate online here.

Thanks,

Steve

Hey Steve, $25.00 isn't much but since I'm retired and on fixed income, it's what I can afford. I know you WILL succeed and all who have participated will, too. Good Luck

There is much to be learned here, Steve. In spite of Senator Kerry telling us that the "people" don't know how to spend their money wisely, and the federal government's firm belief that only it can solve this country's woes, Americans are, by their nature, more than willing to pitch in and spend their time and money to help those in need. We only begin to balk when we are told we must.
