Helen Thomas tells Israeli “occupiers” to go back to Europe, then the apology

This is just classic lefty “a few misplaced words stuff. First the Helen Thomas sound bite … then the apology. Is it good enough for you? My answer to that at the end.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQcQdWBqt14&feature=player_embedded

Now the apology. Nicely worded, by a publicist?

In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”

So … satisfied? I am always happy when folks recognize silly stupid statements, and as a member of the WH Press Corps, she should apology. This is not a free speech issue, not for Helen. But I also am not satisfied. Read the apology again, and then watch the video. Ms Thomas claims that what she said is not her heart felt belief, but when you listen to video you can tell it is. Thus in my mind the apology is more a PR redo rather than a heartfelt apology.

If Helen Thomas believes that Israelis are occupiers, so be it. This is America, and those are her views. But as a journalist, she should keep it to herself, and spare us the carefully crafted apology. That’s my view, I hope over time she proves me wrong.

You said it winni. I thought it was LONG PAST TIME that Helen Thomas should have retired. This unfortinate remark just proves it.

Are you implying that the Øbama press briefings are simply remakes of "Weekend at Bernie's"?  LOL!

She needs to go back to OZ and crawl under that house that fell on her. What an idiot…retire now Helen and keep your opinions  to yourself if you are  professional .

Isn't it amazing how deeply libs "regret" saying what they really feel once they are caught on tape?  The bit about how is "doesn't reflect" her true beliefs is purest horse squeeze, because one doesn't spout off things one doesn't believe, particularly egregious hate speech like that.  A person that not a racist doesn't go around making racist remarks, just as someone that is not an anti Semite doesn't go around spouting this sort of stuff.  She regrets getting caught.  She would play the crazy card, but then they wouldn't let her write her yellow journalism anymore.

She should just go back to her hobby of living under bridges and snatching children.

Helen Thomas forgot that with YouTube, "little brother" is now watching her!

Poor Helen, the victim of the political correctness that the Libs are so fond of.  By their  definition we are all racists. If you are a realist you know that we all, from time to time, have unkind thoughts about races, religions and ethnic minorites. That makes us human, not racist. Racism is a creed. It is beliefs and thoughts translated into harm to others through speach and action or neglect.  Are we racist against Palestinians and/or Jews? Nonsense. We may think one or the other group is the cause of their own problems and/or view them as less deserving on religious and ethnic grounds, but the test is whether our speach and action do harm.  So Helen, did your comments harm our friends in Israel?

Politico has just announced that the Agency that handles Helen Thomas has let her go…I think we will see more reaction this week as her credibility goes the way of this administration.

Wow Helen!  Tell us what you really feel!

And she very well knows that peace will never come the Middle East until certain parties decide that their main mission in life is NOT to destroy Israel, and the Jews, and the infidel Americans, and anyone else not on board with their way of thinking!

I don't recommend taking sides re. the Israili/Palestinian conflict when there is so much smoke and so little light.  As much of a puzzle is  the longevity and intensity of the hate generated in CT between Libs and Conservatives , Dems and Republicans,  over other peoples' life and death struggles that we cannot fix and about which we know so little.  We need more knowledge about the concerns of our neighbors in the Middle-east and fewer of the opinions that have  emerged fully formed from our Western political ideologies.

Hi David R…in case your comment was directed towards me I just wanted to reassure you that I don't just grasp my opinions out of thin air or jump on the societal band wagon.  I search for the facts by reading, listening, watching, and using personal experiences.  I mull them over, and then I form an opinion.  In this case I have and I'm very passionate about it.

I also believe that we may not be able to fix our neighbor's problems,  but we can be part of the solution by educating ourselves, offering physical and financial support, and offering up lots of prayers.  And I'm not perfect, but I try to practice all four of those.

BTW, I harbor no hate towards Helen…only prayers for enlightenment and peace.  🙂

One more thing, when it comes to the news media hate and conflict do better in the market place than peace and justice. Let's not give the media too much credit for rooting out other people's bad behavior. There's a lot of money to be made, even when the "bad behavior" consists of something made out of nothing.
