Health Care Penalty – Jail Time … so be it
Nancy Skinner is a Democratic Strategist and I now Democrats are warm and fuzzy. They care. That’s why they get elected.But tell me please, how is sending someone to jail because they choose not to buy health insurance warm and fuzzy? This is the party of the people.
First the proposed piece of legislation:
There’s a popular video circulating on the ‘net right now about how to escape handcuffs without using a key. Americans are watching the video to bone up on essential skills that will soon be needed for health care reform, it seems, since the new laws that are about to be put in place call for Americans to be arrested and thrown in jail if they refuse to buy health insurance.
This has now been confirmed by Tom Barthold, the Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation. And it’s not merely about jail time; it’s also about the $25,000 fine that could be levied by the IRS against individuals who refuse to buy health insurance.
Skinner says its appropriate … Cavuto says, “You’re crazy.”

First of all, if you are going to link to legislation then link to legislation, not "naturalnews.com" I hope you post the link to to the actual legislation (which I looked for and could not find).
In the proposal that I believe that you are talking a fine would be levied on Americans between $700 and $3,800 for not having any health coverage. Such and idea and such fines are totally ridiculous, likely unconstitutional and would not likely last long even if by some stretch the plan passed.
To say that you will go to jail if you don't have health insurance is nothing more than irresponsible fear mongering. I have not been able to find any proposal that outlines a jail sentence penalty for not having health insurance. If you have a link to that please post it. I think that you are trying to extend the proposal to say that this would be a tax that conforms to current tax law and that if you do not pay you will go to jail. First of all the proposal does not clearly define this, it only mentions that the treasury will collect the dough. Secondly, you would have to NOT pay your complete tax bill for a pretty long time to end up in jail it would take a pretty stiff judge to put you in jail for a $700 – $3,500 tax bill.
In my opinion all of this fear mongering and misleading information does nothing but detract from the valid arguments that you do frequently make on this blog and on the show.
OK – here are some links discussing the topic. When the IRS is in charge of collecting fines and all of this falls into the tax code, the penalties associated with IRS tax law would – I assume – be applied to those who willfully disregard the mandate to buy "federal approved" health insurance coverage.
Would it be written in a law stating "if you willfully don't buy insurance you will be fined or go to jail"? – probably not. But what is currently law is that if you don't follow the IRS tax rules, you can be fined or imprisoned. Ask Al Capone 😉

Then there is the entire "this is not a tax, it's a fine" debate. If it is a fine owed to the feds and you do not pay – you're breaking the law. What the penalty is … I do not know, but I'm certain one option is jail time. If it is a tax – which the Obama administration refuses to agree to since they don't want the impression taxes are increasing (hah) – and you do not pay the tax, what are the IRS penalties?
Finally, here is a link to the tax code mentioned. It deals with the "Willful failure to file return, supply information, or pay tax".
Going to jail for not buying health insurance? I can hardly believe this is the United States of America, land of the free and home of the brave (or should that now be "slave"?). What happens to folks like me, who believe in spiritual causes for physical disharmonies because of Bible teachings, and thus changing my behavior before seeking medical treatment? This is a total nullification of my freedom to worship.
I just have a couple of questions, Where are all the thousands of people going to be imprisoned when they don't sign up for the health care. How stupid is that comment to say we will be find and imprisoned. We are letting killers go free right now for over crowded prisons. What police force is going to police this action?? and who is going to pay for it. LOLOL come on people, you are all crazy if you believe that. Is there enough man power in this world to arrest thousands of people. what are you thinking? I am also surprised that you think Obama is powerful enough to turn this country into what you are accusing him of doing. He didn't make this mess. Remember he is the "inexperienced" one. So that beast Nancy Pelosi, wants to jail all Americans that do not buy into the national health care program? Well, I guess then, if that is true, we should let out of jail, all the murderers and pedophiles and rapist, because we will need the room for all the young families in this country that cannot afford the National Health care plan..
Then when we put all the mommy’s and daddy’s that do not make over 15000 dollars a year, in jail because they choose to eat rather than pay for National Healthcare. Then where will their children and or babies go? I guess they will starve on the streets, because their parents are in jails.. Maybe Pelosi will take them all in and feed them.. Or maybe, our new communist government, will open-up orphanages to place all the children of those evil parents, who did not pay for Government Health care. This sounds like a plan from outer space or a plan from the minds of hypocrites and brainless heartless people. Pelosi is such a warm hearted beast.
I thought National Healthcare was suppose to be free, to the poor and needy who cannot afford it. I guess all the homeless and poor working people in this country better get a job to pay for the healthcare that they cannot afford.

Skinner is a beast. He has no idea how hard it is for young families to eat, let alone pay for a very bad health care plan that will probaly kill people more than help.. He does not care about anyone but himself, as all the other people in this evil heartless administration.
