Guns Don’t Kill People … They Help People Stop Home Invasions
OK … not exactly the way the phrase goes … but I could add 10 more stories I know of just like this.
Owning a gun is your 2nd amendment right. It is also your responsibility to learn to handle a firearm safely and correctly. But if you take the time to learn, train, and legally purchase a firearm it just may save your life someday. If we all stand by every window in the house (all the time), we may have a good chance to spot a potential home invader, get the key to the gun closet, open it, get the gun, load it and run to the window. Then maybe, the potential home invader is still there waiting to fight it out with you. This is stuff of novels, not of real life.
I imagine that in some neighborhoods, you need to stand by your window all the time.
In my town, it is assumed that everyone has a gun.? It is an accurate assumption.? Our police work is limited to traffic enforcement and home emergencies etc.

On second thought, I think I will still dial 911, in spite of Dimsdale’s eye opening statement. And what are the home emergencies etc. that the police in his town are responding to: home invasion perhaps?
Nope.? Home emergencies are defined as medical issues, fires, animal control.? There has never been a home invasion in this town.? Nobody would dare!? A very armed and very polite society to be sure!? No gun violence either!? Go figure.? Never see a gun unless it is hunting season.? American Handgunner magazine and the NRA publications are full of stories of self defense (and preservation) by armed citizens.? You just never see it on television, because it doesn’t fit the media’s mantra.
And by all means you should call 911 if it works for you.? Don’t forget that in a “shall issue” community where guns are [permitted to qualified individuals without unnecessary liberal resistance, you directly benefit from the doubt of whether you have a gun or not, a benefit you could not possibly receive in a gun free society.? Would home invaders be as prone to do their thing if they believed the occupants could be loaded for bear??? I think not.? Go gun free and advertise it, crime goes up.? It happened once in Chappaqua, of all places.? It is happening in England.? Given a choice, any sane criminal is going to go after the easy target that won’t or can’t fight back.

On further review, one line really caught my ear "…the homeowner reached for a gun that was easily accessible……"
Compare that to what they make you do in MA (and CT?), where you practically have to have the gun disassembled, unloaded and locked away. Somehow, I don' t think that having to dial a combination or find a key, retrieve the gun, remove the gun lock, then load the weapon, would have saved this guy's life. Call 911? This guy was safer barricading the door and grabbing the gun, as the story demonstrated.
Note too that they weren't scared away until AFTER the homeowner started firing his gun in self defense. His only mistake was not having a gun big enough to pop the windshield and the perp's skull.
The homeowner would be dead if he was not armed.
The homeowner would be in jail if there were no cameras recording the assault.
No one can look after your safety and well being better than yourself.
Be prepared. Lock and Load.
What a crying shame that liberals cannot realize that, and as such, put so many people at risk (and so few criminals).

I personally do not agree with the current understanding of the ownership of guns, its a interpretation. Be that as it may, I would never ever infringe on the current gun laws of the USA, so I will leave it at that.
However the tragedy here is that if the owner of Travis had owned gun, even a tranquilizer gun, that perhaps this tragedy could of been avoided all together.
this incident is not Travis's fault, its the fault of those people that choose to own wild, dangerous animals.
So if the liberal party was to dismantle gun ownership, I wonder how this tragedy would of really ended.
