Gun sales up 50% since O!

Apparently, a perceived liberal president has helped recession-proof at least one business sector.

“Gun sellers say the election of Barack Obama is helping them avoid the recession. Sales of new guns are booming – up an estimated 50 percent in the suburbs.

In Wednesday’s Truth in Politics, CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports the gun lobby spent big trying to defeat Obama this year, outraged by his promise to reinstate a ban on military-style assault weapons. On talk radio, he was denounced as a “gun grabber.” Now, as Obama heads to the White House, millions are rushing to reload.”

Isn't that amazing? There is no real run on guns here because most everyone is armed anyway. However, there is a run on ammunition because of increasing fears that the Obama plan is to tax it 'til it's unaffordable.
My question is; Will any legislation make me any safer? I think not, it will only help the 'perps' find their 'vics' quicker and more vulnerable.
This flawed, liberal line of thinking is ridiculous. In fact, we opened pandora's box when the constitution was ratified. Putting the punishment on the law abiding public is ludicrous. How about a life sentence for a felon in possession of a firearm? The same for the commission of a violent crime with a firearm. I'd say 75% of the problem solved. Get Real!

Tell your friend not to worry, Bob — since it is not from your income, it isn't *really* a tax — our resident socialist Gary assures me so.

As you say — amazing, isn't it?

Bob in TN: "Will any legislation make me any safer? I think not, it will only help the ‘perps’ find their ‘vics’ quicker and more vulnerable."

Alternately, if not owning firearms were such a laudable thing to do, why don't the abstainers put signs on the front of their houses declaring such, rather than grab a free ride over those of use who have gone to the trouble and expense of arming ourselves.

Case in point: CHAPPAQUA, New York — Neal Knox, editor of Gun Week during the late 1960s, recalls a window sign printed by anti-gun nuts in Chappaqua. It read: "Proud Supporter of Gun Control. This is a gun-free home." Knox says: "After about a month, the signs all quietly came down as the word went out about the number of those Chappaqua homes being burgled and robbed."

    Chappaqua. How ironic, no?

Maybe Obama should do a test run: ban the use of arms by his Secret Service staff, and see how it works out for him. Goose, gander etc.

Fun story. The most powerful guns are selling fastest. so the story goes.. The owner of the gun story and or autor says no one really believes gun control issues are on the top of the President elects agenda. So as the one lady said it is just "It's simply paranoia".
Yes i know some say not at the top which only means it is on his agenda and even parionds have enemys.. The really fun thing not listed here is I have been for a year now making jokes to peoples to invest in guns and ammno.. Not that your guns would be taking but that the house of paper was about to burn.. So I do wonder if some of the sales are from people like me who are seeing a tread that our courant way of life is about to end and it will be a kill to live land. Kill to eat, kill to survive, kill to protect your women and childen and these sales also fall into the time line of the President saying our country is about to fall unless we give the system money and there will be no money to pay the farmers and drivers and police and unemployed and everyone will be on there own God Bless and Good luck.. Ha ha some was read into but that was the main reason for the first 700 billion payout the world had no money,Opps sorry got to long.

And guess what, Gary… I can guarantee that "Wyndeward" doesn't mind a bit. I do confess that I should harmonize my "guest blogger" log-in with my "commenting" handle, however.

In short, Gary, I *posted* the story.

Mayhap, but it is not rootless — when the President-elect says things like "We won't have time to take away your guns," it doesn't inspire confidence in the gun-owning populace, nor his support of re-asserting past (but lapsed) gun control laws. As the song says, it doesn't take a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

How about a life sentence for a felon in possession of a firearm? The same for the commission of a violent crime with a firearm. I’d say 75% of the problem solved…. I am ignorant of all gun laws but would ask are there not these laws on the books already to no avail… Just for fun I had a talk back I don't know 2002 maybe or so and proposed that why should if them no good liberal gun hating anti america spit on the flag and hate our Christen/ jedo land that why should they take the guns when it is easier to go for the bullets…. No Bullets and then what your left with is only a handfull of peoples that know how to make there own and then they would need the materal to do so and if you now know who is buying metals and lead you know who has the abilitys
.Oh what a parnoid state we are in where all groups across all politacal sides arm them selves to the teeth and purpare for…
I have also been making jokes that it is college kids that should be arming them selves and purpare for.. Because all or opps a lot of revoluatarys get started there and colleges are the first that are gone after, the young at schools where you can share ideas and grow into a subversive cell and church groups and the NRA and any potical groups left or right or better yet everyone just run and hide, flee to Alaska while you can..Barrack is coming to take your guns and turn our great land over to French Un troops in there black helicopters and turn you all gay and make you eat briscotts….Bye i hear the helicopters overhead

Gary: "I am ignorant of all gun laws but would ask are there not these laws on the books already to no avail…"

Which is the primary conservative argument against new gun control laws, Gary. Too bad we had the sixties and seventies, where holding a criminal responsible for what he did with the gun took a back seat to demonizing the gun itself.

Gary: "No Bullets and then what your left with is only a handfull of peoples that know how to make there own and then they would need the materal to do so and if you now know who is buying metals and lead you know who has the abilitys"

Da, Tovarisch. Just another socialist wanting to reduce citizens to serfs, eh?

Gary: "I have also been making jokes that it is college kids that should be arming them selves and purpare for.. Because all or opps a lot of revoluatarys get started there and colleges are the first that are gone after"

You mean like the Weathermen? Setting bombs to kill police? Their not really that much of a threat, taken in toto — urban revolutions are easily contained and destroyed and the college kiddies in the US just lack the wherewithal to handle the dirty end of revolution — the Weathermen ran their NYC bombing cell out of a Greenwich Village townhouse. Through in that the easiest obtained "revolutionary manuals" have some rather tragic errors in formulation and you have a recipe for tragedy or a B+W slap-stick comedy.
