God … I dislike Washington State.

Ha! I mean come on. Let the Christians have their holiday. I have never seen a Christmas display say, “Believe … or face damnation.” Dateline Olympia, Washington

An atheist group has unveiled an anti-religion placard in the state Capitol, joining a Christian Nativity scene and “holiday tree” on display during December. The atheists’ sign was installed Monday by Washington members of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a national group based in Madison, Wis. With a nod to the winter solstice – the year’s shortest day, occurring in late December – the placard reads, in part, “There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.”

The whole story is here. Not sure why the atheists have to say, “Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds”. Besides, hardened hearts? Tell that to the countless orphans, sick, infirmed, homeless, etc who have been helped by the truly religious. And please … no more Crusades and Inquisition. As I said … let the Christians (and I am one) have their holiday.

That is a great topic today … what to give an atheist on Christmas?

"Tell that to the countless orphans, sick, infirmed, homeless, etc who have been helped by the truly religious."

    Oh, that's funny. Here's a correction:

Tell that to the countless orphans, sick, infirmed, homeless, etc who have been created by the truly religious.

Atheists have their beliefs and theists have theirs. In a fair and balanced society, why should one have any more say than the other.
Isn't the expunging of the countryside of all things religious favoring one group over another? And shame on you Barry, you're lucky your mother chose you and not some other choice. My gift to you this Christmas is tolerance.

Tom, are you always so vile as to so quickly make remarks about someone’s mother? You didn’t know my mother. My mother knew and taught me that bombs dropped on children were equally evil regardless if they were emblazoned with a Star of David, an Iron Cross, or the Crescent Moon. Do you prefer Christian abominations to others? “Got mit Uns”, right. Thanks for your gift of tolerance, if that’s what you want to call it.

Barry, what an image you paint with the teachings of your mother. Do you really think that religious groups are supportive of dropping bombs on the innocents. I must have missed something in my upbringing. I'm sure that the atheist groups are busy this holiday season making sure that the homeless, orphans and infirm are lined up to receive their winter solstice offerings. You name me one atheist group that supports anything charitable that has actually helped another person. Show me the love in an ACLU suit over a tree, cross or other symbol. Where's the good in that. I am thankful for the Judeo Christain underpinnings of our society that affords us the freedoms that we have including your's. There are countries that you could migrate to that are devoid of any religious beliefs and their bombs are left blank. You only have to check your freedoms at their boarder.

This is really sad, how the governor of Washington has allowed this anti religion sign to be posted. Please call Christine Gregoire and let her know how you feel about this. Her phone number is 360-902-4111 Remember to be polite in you criticism. Governor Christine Gregoire has the power to remove this sign, just blogging here will not change anything but calling her might. Please share this number with everyone you know. I respect you for publishing this story but you left out that important number 360-902-4111. Thank You All
